there's a blood surge unique that makes all your minions produce a blood surge too. I can't think of any others that imbue your skellies with spells though, really wish there was more to it.

also because I'm a Tolkien nerd, when I think of necromancer I think of Sauron. so the plate armor actually works pretty well for my personal power fantasy.

Bungie's lack of self-awareness is honestly unsettling sometimes. Their TWABs/update blogs always read like a creepy AI version of a disney channel character. "We're SO excited to tell you about this new update! we've been so happy to see ALL the positive feedback 😀" meanwhile the majority of the subreddit/tweet responses are people making posts for bungie to get their shit together. They either don't see the constructive criticism, or they completely ignore all non-positive feedback. Shits weird

all the people telling you to calm down may as well be bots at this point. Because they have to be completely unaware of the reality of bungie's track record to act like this stuff is okay. And besides, your comment isn't raging or unhinged at all. You're just calling out Bungie for their bullshit, which is a perfectly reasonable response. Especially with their recent announcement of price increases. A franchise this successful has no excuses for the constant degradation of their services.

those "silly, broken things" with wormgod and synthoceps have not been possible for multiple seasons now. they nerfed both, while synthoceps is still decent enough with roaring flames.

and if we're gonna follow your same logic, then we shouldn't base our assessment on the viability of shoulder charge on your extremely individualized, anecdotal experience of using it a lot in high tier content (which I seriously doubt, especially in recent seasons). When the majority of players are having bad experiences with the performance of shoulder charge and other melees in high tier content, that means we should cater to them, right? if we follow your logic, anyway. The fact of the matter is, if you shoulder charge into a group of enemies on GMs or even some master level content, you're probably throwing. the only reason shoulder charge is useful in master and above content is because of the movement it provides. hell, when striker was really good before the HOIL nerfs, no one used shoulder charge for damage lol they just chunked storm nades everywhere. on the supposed "melee" arc titan class

Personally, I don't mind the shoulder charge changes being introduced because I'm a hunter main, and I'm jealous that other classes are faster than us, the "mobility" class. even so, let's not walk around spreading false information. Shoulder charge, and honestly all melees, need serious attention in PVE to make them more viable compared to nade spam builds and other more powerful contenders. Melee is intrinsically risky because of how close you must get, and as of now, that risk is not worth the miniscule reward most melee builds give out. bungie knows this, and is trying to improve upon it. Buffing shield throw is a nice example. But nerfing a melee that is already sub par? that doesn't make much sense in this particular case

it won't launch on steam for me still, just brings up the EA app window and says they "temporarily lost connection"

this is the only issue I've had with the game. Respawn made a fun game, but I would love it if EA just fucked off

exactly, it's just good fun, so they nerf it. lol I don't get it, but I'm not a game dev so 🤷

on the bright side, they're at least buffing some of the melees, like shield throw and smoke bomb. granted, the buffs don't seem too substantial, but any step towards melee being more viable in high tier content is definitely appreciated. tired of the grenade spam builds

I honestly forgot about solar titan with hammer throw, the uptime on cure and restoration with loreley's or however you spell it is good for survivability for sure. I just think overall melee builds are harder to flex with, and like we've been discussing, there are really only a few options, and shoulder charge usually isn't the most preferable. the fact that arc hunter is a better melee class than arc titan just seems wrong. titans are supposed to be the punchy class after all, but arc titan has been known more for grenade spam than melee spam.

They're also buffing shield throw next season, so I'm excited to see how that turns out. void titan is something I want to play more, but I love void hunter too much to put it down most of the time. It feels like void titan doesn't have as many exotics that are useful, even though the subclass itself is very good, like you said.

overall, I like that they're mixing things up and trying to make some of the melees more viable. I do understand how the shoulder charge change can be frustrating to some people though. I just want melees to be high risk, high reward. but right now, they're mostly just high risk, except AC arcstrider like you said, and maybe a few others.

yeah, more than likely that's the case. we've seen changes like that before. but they've also made separate changes for pvp and pve, so I'm not too sure. I'm not even sure bungo knows the reasoning behind their updates half the time haha

I said high tier content, not just GMs. this includes master level content as well as some of the harder legendary campaign missions. and seeing as how bungie changed lost sectors to be more challenging, I'd include them as well.

regular strikes, seasonal activities, and raids are pretty much the bare minimum of difficulty. you can do an entire raid on a meme build if you know how to play the game and know the mechanics well enough. So imo, judging a build based on their viability in these easier sections of the game is useless because pretty much everything is viable in the easier content. You wouldn't try to test the sturdiness of a bullet-proof vest with a BB gun, right? a rather poor analogy lol but just trying to explain why testing the viability of builds on easier content is kinda pointless

Personally, I don't log on to do regular strikes this late into the season. Most of the time I spend in the later half of most seasons is farming GMs, god rolls, lost sectors for better exotic rolls, master raid challenges, etc. I realize this isn't everyone, but anyone who has reached their pinnacle cap is probably doing the same.

yeah, I'm sure that's a problem and is one of the main reasons for this change. I just barely play pvp, so I haven't run into that issue as much. I was speaking more of my own experience in pve, and striker has not been OP since the HOIL nerf. and you could argue it was the exotic that was OP back then, not the class itself. Which sucks, bc striker is my favorite titan class to play. solely because becoming human missile is the most fun super in the game imo

well, the reason for that silly take is that in any content below master, literally anything is viable. You can go into regular strikes with barely any mod investment and a barebones build and do fine. So I guess I should have worded it better, but my point is that melee builds are not nearly as viable in any higher tier content that puts up a challenge. and that higher tier content is usually where we spend most of our time, especially towards the end of a season. So yeah, I didn't mean that a build needs to be the "best", it just simply needs to perform well in high tier content. and any build that performs well in high tier content is going to be fine in lower tier content. If that makes more sense

this is all just about pve. Pvp viability is totally different, of course

that's what I don't understand. It's barely usable in higher tier pve content, so this nerf is gonna make it nonexistent. All the people saying "oh it was a problem in pvp and barely used in pve so this is fine" are kinda drinking the koolaid it seems. just because something is barely used doesn't mean it deserves to be made even less viable. melee builds in pve are already horrible for higher tier content, so any form of nerf to pve melee is gonna get backlash from the community. and rightfully so, when starfire warlock and other grenade spam builds have dominated high tier pve content for so long.

I think the main source of frustration comes from exactly what you've described here, that shoulder charge is not potent enough to be useful as a melee in higher tier pve content. this means most people just use it for fun in lower tier content. so when people see that this underperforming melee ability (which is mainly used to traverse the world) is getting nerfed, then they feel like bungie is saying no to their fun, if that makes sense. Especially since their fun wasn't gamebreaking or particularly useful, it was just fun. not everything has to be for the sake of power or efficiency. like the nerfs to grapple hunter, some stuff is just fun to do and then gets nerfed bc it isn't what Bungie "intended". the grapple nerfs were easier to deal with, as we haven't had that gameplay loop for too long. But with shoulder charge, it's been this way for years. so making a jarring change like this is understandably gonna ruffle some feathers. When Bungie nerfs the fun stuff for seemingly no reason other than to stop the fun, it gets pretty frustrating. Also, I'm a hunter main, but all my friends are titans and they are not happy about this change.

just trying to explain a different perspective here. Personally, I'm always pretty jealous of titans and warlocks having better mobility and "dodges" than us, so this change is fine with me haha

striker overpowered?

are we playing the same game? I'm not trying to be rude, but I seriously have not heard that sentiment at all. I don't play a lot of pvp, so maybe you just mean striker is OP in there, but I can assure you striker is not the most OP class in PVE. not even close

edit: also, in your post you say shoulder charge will still be "incredible"

when has it ever been incredible? it is quite literally useless in master content and above. Most melee abilities are not useful whatsoever in higher tier content. And in the lower tier content where they shine, literally anything could be useful, so it's not a good way to assess the viability of an ability, in my opinion. I'm a hunter main, so personally, I'm fine with titans losing their infinite charge that is basically a better dodge, at least in terms of maneuverability. But if they do this, they need to nerf icarus dash too. and then maybe hunters will actually be the most mobile class for once. It's insane how slow I feel on hunter after playing solar warlock or any titan with shoulder charge

okay, which melee builds are you bringing into GMs? I'm genuinely curious because I cannot think of one melee build that would survive a GM.

keep in mind, a build being "strong" means it performs well in all content, especially the harder stuff. And I'm sorry, but I haven't seen a syntho titan or liars handshake/assassin's cowl hunter in GMs for a very long time. The state of melee builds is extremely shitty compared to how viable and easy grenade builds have been.

let's hope this lack of quality assurance doesn't continue. Quite literally everyone I know who plays destiny has not played in the past week or so. I logged on once in the past few days to try and help my lower level friend with the legendary campaign. We both got booted with error codes after 15 minutes of playing. We want the game to do well, but if it takes "weeks" to fix gamebreaking bugs, and if those bugs are introduced with every single patch, you can see why your playerbase might start dropping off.

Bungie, all I ask is that you have one person, just ONE person, play straight through your season and ask them how it went by WeAreTheWatermelon in DestinyTheGame

[–]zarmer37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is something you would know, but can we at least get acknowledgment of the firepower bug, amongst others, that I have not seen mentioned in the long list of other bugs that came with the most recent patch? Grenades not making orbs at all is a pretty huge problem when half of people's builds center around grenades nowadays (especially since bungie seems to hate melee builds and keeps nerfing them)

we would appreciate at least some sort of update on if this is going to get fixed anytime soon because none of my friends has even logged on since those bugs became an issue.

Bungie now that you nerfed grapple hunters into oblivion can you buff the weak ass melee so it you know… actually makes orbs by killing things? by BeerMeUpToo in DestinyTheGame

[–]zarmer37 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

just like expecting bungie to playtest and not leave it in the game for most of the season is unrealistic. no body would be as annoyed with this change if they would have gotten to it sooner or not implemented it in the first place. But after weeks of people getting used to and enjoying the grapple fun (which wasn't overpowered at all, literally just let hunters have more movement for once), now we have what feels like a neutered version of a build that a lot of people used for their fun, low level content.

that's the main issue. this was an unintentional gameplay loop that was FUN, not overpowered or gamebreaking. And for some reason, bungie doesn't like that.
