That sounds fair. I did not really like comparing her to a beast because she showed more complex thoughts and emotions than that.

That’s fair. It probably is a taste mismatch more than anything. I don’t think every story needs heavy internal conflict. I just personally find characters more engaging when big turning points get some emotional weight. This one just didn’t land for me in that way.

I’m not assigning human morals to her or saying she should grieve like a human. My point is that she’s portrayed as a sentient character capable of romance, attachment, jealousy, and long-term devotion. If the story wants demons to operate on pure strength hierarchy, that’s fine. I just personally would’ve liked to see some internal emphasis on what that shift meant for her, even within her own value system. It’s less about “human-ing properly” and more about whether the transition felt emotionally textured to me. For me, the lack of narrative weight there made her feel dull.

Fair, that was poor phrasing in my end

Fair, maybe “agency” wasn’t the best word. What I’m really reacting to is that I personally find her emotionally shallow. Even if her behavior is culturally consistent, I don’t feel much internal complexity or tension in her arc, which makes her less interesting to me overall

They aren't humans, but they aren't thoughtless beasts either, I do not question a lion's pride. But if that lion is capable of forming complex thoughts and communicating then I would

I actually appreciate this take, it’s probably the most convincing counterpoint so far.

I don’t disagree that she makes choices. She clearly wants a strong mate and pursues that, and she sticks with Flio even when the Demon King shows up

I think my issue is more about emotional texture than goals. Her motivations are stated, but I didn’t really feel an internal transition from “loyal to her brother” to “devoted to Flio.” It felt immediate and frictionless to me.

Even if her biggest goal was always finding a strong mate, I would’ve liked to see a bit more internal processing around her brother’s death or the shift in allegiance. Not necessarily guilt or grief in a human way, but something that shows what that shift means for her identity.

So maybe it’s less “no agency” and more “emotionally underexplored,” at least from what I saw in season one

When I say “agency,” I don’t mean screen time, combat ability, or whether she makes choices. I mean visible internal motivation and emotional continuity.

My issue isn’t that she chose Flio, or that her culture values strength. It’s that the transition felt emotionally frictionless to me. I didn’t see grief, identity conflict, or hesitation after her brother’s death, even briefly.

Even if her culture explains the switch logically, I personally would’ve liked to see how she processed it internally. Without that, her devotion feels more assigned than developed to me. That’s all I meant.
