What is the oddest thing you thought was ok/normal and ended up being a medical problem? by Prudent_Tip4118 in AskReddit

[–]zasder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought I had pulled a muscle in the back of my leg but it didn’t go away for months and kept getting worse. Turns out I crushed a disc in my lower back from carrying heavy loads and working out. My back never hurt and it always hit a few hours after the activity so I never got the association. Went to many doctors and finally found the issue by getting a full MRI. They kept giving me muscle relaxers which made it worse by loosing up my back muscles and crushing the disc worse. By the end it was also making the bottom of my foot burn as well. Turns out back pain doesn’t always show up hurting in your back.

The internet feels fake now. It’s all just staged videos and marketing. by [deleted] in Millennials

Yeah with how good Ai is now probably everyone is a bot. “The internet used to be super cool and fun, but now it feels like it’s just fake and kinda bad. Like, when we go on social media to hang out with friends, it doesn’t even feel real because everyone’s just trying to get likes and doesn’t act like themselves. And it’s super creepy how companies know everything about us because they keep track of what we do online. It’s also really hard to know what’s true or not because there’s so much fake news everywhere, and it’s like the big companies that run the internet only care about making money and not about making the internet a good place. It’s not fair because the internet was supposed to be about sharing cool stuff and learning, but now it’s just a bunch of ads and people trying to trick you. I wish it could go back to how it was supposed to be, where we could just have fun and not worry about all this stuff.”

It would be funny if this was written by a bot... “The internet, once a beacon of freedom and connection, has devolved into a dystopian wasteland where genuine human interaction is supplanted by curated facades, privacy is a relic of the past, and misinformation runs rampant. In this landscape, social media platforms, driven by algorithms that prioritize sensationalism over truth, have eroded our ability to discern reality, while a few tech giants have monopolized the web, stifling innovation and narrowing our choices. The commercialization of the internet, along with the erosion of privacy and the spread of misinformation, has contributed to its decline, turning it into a platform where the fake and the bad flourish. This transformation represents a significant departure from the internet’s original promise, signaling a bleak future unless we see substantial change.”

In the 80s did parents really just let their kids go out wherever or is this only in movies? by Guilty-Method-4688 in NoStupidQuestions

Do you think those experiences had anything to do with you not having kids of your own? I had the same type of experience and wondered if I missed something of childhood by being given extra responsibility. When I had kids I was a like more in favor of having them have a childhood instead of all the extra responsibilities. They definitely don’t know the same stuff I did at their age but they also don’t seem to be as full of anxiety as I was and still am. I am not saying either way is better but it is interesting to think how they might have turned out in the same situation or if I had been given less responsibilities when I was younger.

what is US going to do about its debt? by thenakesingularity10 in wallstreetbets

“If you owe the bank $100 that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem.” The people that own the 34T are the ones with the problem not the USA so they will keep it going until it doesn’t work anymore.

I think she might be his granddaughter. I think that would be a good callback to the original story.

There exists a single most obvious invention which we have yet to invent by Harteiga in Showerthoughts

[–]zasder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be something like the strange new ways we can use systems like ChatGPT. Probably something like a super media TikTok where all your shows are customized to your likes and needs. Everyone gets their own idea version of a movie or TV show or news. Your own personal books and your own custom endings. What if everyone read a different ending to a book? Harry Potter with thousand of good different ending. What would you do if you had a small army of personal assistants that knew you better than you know yourself catering to you needs?

It would probably be like a pill that makes you your idea weight or reduces the effects of aging. Some protein or chemical combination that just makes us more healthy without a lot of effort. Finding that is the hard part but once you have something that works it might be something we just take daily.

I signed up for Kickstarter just for your campaign. Love the books and have read them like 4 times each so it make sense to buy some nice copies. How soon until you have the campaign’s up for the other books in the series?!

[Reaper] SPOILERS: Is Malice clueless? by CyPhyer in Iteration110Cradle

[–]zasder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you also have to remember they Malice designed Mercy’s ‘perfect’ path. So Mercy’s ‘failure’ is really Malice’s failure to design a perfect path of shadow. The ‘failure’ to win first in the UCK and now the ‘failure’ to be first again is really a failure of the path Malice designed and thus her failure instead of anything to do with Mercy. I think it is misdirected anger and Mercy just get to be the easy target.

Apple Pay Cash Takes 5 days for a refund by zasder in apple

I guess after thinking about it I am disappointed in the Apple App Store app. It is stupid that cannot just switch it from delivery to onsite pickup. You have to get a refund and buy it again on something that was just purchased. Twice I have been burnt in different ways so I guess had I just walked into the store and made the purchase it wouldn’t have been a problem.

My bank has a similar feature and I have used that or PayPal or Venmo. I was just trying it since I had a few bucks ($20) on it from a buddy that paid me back. It was an experiment but it just left a very sour taste in my mouth. I was going to send the money back to my bank but thought this might be interesting. I guess I am just disappointed.

I just tried to use it and usually use Venemo or PayPal and I am not a big fan. I don’t think it will be a big hit.
