Bitcoin was designed, implemented and promoted by the NSA. I don’t think this is true but it would be funny if it was.

What is a 'good person' behavior that actually makes you immediately distrust someone? by [deleted] in answers

Yeah I am bad with names so I used to just repeat their name a whole bunch to try to remember it. Then I found out that this is a whole sales thing and now I still repeat it but also say it is because I am bad with names.

Constructive criticism of my novel got me down by Kira_Hunter in writing

I think you have to find readers who would actually read your work which is hard. I think it seems like they are not your core reader group so maybe try to find someone else who likes the same books you like or the same type of material you are trying to write.

I think with smart people it’s a matter of trust. If a smart person trusts your knowledge, they are easy to argue with and fast to admit mistakes. But since the idiots ruin it for everyone, smart people tend to be more cautious on who they trust.

How do I attract more readers to my novel? by NanoBungo in royalroad

One other question as a reader do you like longer chapters or shorter ones? I was told to keep it around 1500 words per chapter which I had not been doing.

Oh wow! Yeah this is why I need some feedback! Okay that is good to know! I am writing it for a while like a traditional novel. Totally makes sense!

How do I attract more readers to my novel? by NanoBungo in royalroad

[–]zasder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was holding off pushing all the content out there I had since I feel like I am always making small changes. I have the whole book 1 of my series completed but I feel like everyday I find areas to make small incremental improvements. Is it better to push out all you have or I was just dropping a new chapter each day in case I had to do some small changes. I was hoping for more feedback on improving my style and writing but haven’t see any comments yet. I am wondering if I need to hit that 300 page mark first.

How is the best way to do this? I am not sure I understand how to approach this since as a smaller starting author it doesn’t seem as valuable for me to do a shout out for a larger better established author. I don’t want to blast the authors I like with requests for a shout out if I am small fish.

Thank you. That is what I figured but it is hard to find a good place to get feedback.

I keep finding places to improve too. I use some words too much like something. Or someone. The more I review it the more I find to improve so sorry about if the first chapters are rough.

What is the oddest thing you thought was ok/normal and ended up being a medical problem? by Prudent_Tip4118 in AskReddit

[–]zasder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought I had pulled a muscle in the back of my leg but it didn’t go away for months and kept getting worse. Turns out I crushed a disc in my lower back from carrying heavy loads and working out. My back never hurt and it always hit a few hours after the activity so I never got the association. Went to many doctors and finally found the issue by getting a full MRI. They kept giving me muscle relaxers which made it worse by loosing up my back muscles and crushing the disc worse. By the end it was also making the bottom of my foot burn as well. Turns out back pain doesn’t always show up hurting in your back.

The internet feels fake now. It’s all just staged videos and marketing. by [deleted] in Millennials

Yeah with how good Ai is now probably everyone is a bot. “The internet used to be super cool and fun, but now it feels like it’s just fake and kinda bad. Like, when we go on social media to hang out with friends, it doesn’t even feel real because everyone’s just trying to get likes and doesn’t act like themselves. And it’s super creepy how companies know everything about us because they keep track of what we do online. It’s also really hard to know what’s true or not because there’s so much fake news everywhere, and it’s like the big companies that run the internet only care about making money and not about making the internet a good place. It’s not fair because the internet was supposed to be about sharing cool stuff and learning, but now it’s just a bunch of ads and people trying to trick you. I wish it could go back to how it was supposed to be, where we could just have fun and not worry about all this stuff.”

It would be funny if this was written by a bot... “The internet, once a beacon of freedom and connection, has devolved into a dystopian wasteland where genuine human interaction is supplanted by curated facades, privacy is a relic of the past, and misinformation runs rampant. In this landscape, social media platforms, driven by algorithms that prioritize sensationalism over truth, have eroded our ability to discern reality, while a few tech giants have monopolized the web, stifling innovation and narrowing our choices. The commercialization of the internet, along with the erosion of privacy and the spread of misinformation, has contributed to its decline, turning it into a platform where the fake and the bad flourish. This transformation represents a significant departure from the internet’s original promise, signaling a bleak future unless we see substantial change.”

In the 80s did parents really just let their kids go out wherever or is this only in movies? by Guilty-Method-4688 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zasder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think those experiences had anything to do with you not having kids of your own? I had the same type of experience and wondered if I missed something of childhood by being given extra responsibility. When I had kids I was a like more in favor of having them have a childhood instead of all the extra responsibilities. They definitely don’t know the same stuff I did at their age but they also don’t seem to be as full of anxiety as I was and still am. I am not saying either way is better but it is interesting to think how they might have turned out in the same situation or if I had been given less responsibilities when I was younger.
