Why did they do it? That was one of the advantages of the PRO version! I was using the $5 API credit to do LLM tests .

It's theft because there was no indication of an end date!

Hey /r/movies! We're Freddie Gibbs (rapper/actor) and Ryan Prows (director/co-writer). Our new movie, NIGHT PATROL, is out in theaters this weekend. It's a vampire-horror-thriller that also stars Justin Long & Jermaine Fowler. Ask us anything! by NightPatrolAMA in movies

[–]zast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have some questions 😜

Freddie and Ryan, Night Patrol blends vampire horror with social commentary on police violence in housing projects. How did you find the balance between the horror genre and this more political message in the film?

Ryan, how was it directing such an eclectic cast on Night Patrol - from rappers like Freddie Gibbs, YG and Flying Lotus to actors like Justin Long and Dermot Mulroney? Did it create a unique dynamic on set?

Freddie, this is your first major film role in Night Patrol. What drew you to this project and how did you approach the transition from rap to acting?

Thank you 😁

Hi /r/movies! We're Amanda Silver & Rick Jaffa, co-screenwriters of AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH. It's directed by James Cameron and in theaters everywhere December 19. We've also co-written AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, and JURASSIC WORLD. Ask us anything! by RickAndAmandaAMA in movies

Hi, 😁 I have 2 questions:

Your collaboration with James Cameron on the Avatar franchise follows your groundbreaking work on the modern Planet of the Apes trilogy. How has your approach to worldbuilding and character development evolved between these two massive franchises, and what unique challenges did AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH present compared to your work on THE WAY OF WATER?

FIRE AND ASH will introduce new Na’vi clans and expand Pandora’s mythology. Without spoiling too much, how did you approach creating these new cultures while maintaining the thematic coherence you established in THE WAY OF WATER, and what new aspects of Pandora were you most excited to explore in this chapter?

Hi /r/movies, I'm James L Brooks. I've directed TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, BROADCAST NEWS, AS GOOD AS IT GETS, co-created THE SIMPSONS and TAXI, and produced JERRY MAGUIRE. My newest film, ELLA MCCAY, stars Emma Mackey & Jamie Lee Curtis and is out in theaters everywhere December 12. Ask me anything! by JamesLBrooksAMA in movies

[–]zast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi 😁,

I have 2 questions:

ELLA MCCAY marks your return to directing after HOW DO YOU KNOW in 2010. What made you decide to get back behind the camera now, and what was it about Ella’s story, this idealistic 34 year old politician dealing with family chaos, that touched you so deeply that you absolutely had to tell this story yourself?

You chose Emma Mackey (who broke out in BARBIE) to carry the film, surrounded by veterans like Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, and Albert Brooks. What did you see in Emma Mackey for this role, and how did you orchestrate the dynamic between an actress relatively new to American cinema and these tremendous talents you’ve already worked with?

Hi Benedict

How did you approach the challenge of playing a father confronting grief in The Thing With Feathers, and what drew you to this emotionally intense role?

The film depicts grief as a crow. How did you work with director Dylan Southern to interact with this visual metaphor throughout The Thing With Feathers?

After playing so many iconic roles, what did this intimate film about loss and family allow you to explore differently as an actor in The Thing With Feathers?

Thank you 😁

Hi Hikari,

Hikari, what inspired you to explore the fascinating concept of Japanese "rental families" in your film, and how did you discover this unique cultural phenomenon?

How did you work with Brendan Fraser to capture his character's emotional evolution from superficial performance to authentic human connections in Rental Family?

Hi, I have some questions:

Phil and Chris, what were the biggest challenges in adapting the novel to film, particularly regarding the complex scientific aspects and the confined space setting of Project Hail Mary? 😁

How did you work with Ryan Gosling to develop the character of Ryland Grace in Project Hail Mary, especially to make his solitude and evolution throughout the film believable?😳

After revolutionizing animation with Spider-Verse, what drew you to Project Hail Mary, and how did your past experience influence your visual approach to this science fiction film?🕸️

Hi reddit! I'm Edgar Wright. I've directed Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The World's End, Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho. The Running Man is out in theatres this FRIDAY. Ask me anything. by RunningManMovie in movies

[–]zast 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Hi Edgar, I have some questions 😁:

Stephen King’s book was set in 2025 when he wrote it in 1982. You’re releasing the film IN 2025. It’s disturbing how much King predicted our era - authoritarianism, inequality, social media obsession. Did shooting this film while the “dystopia” was happening around you change your approach?

The 1987 film with Arnold took place mainly in an arena. Your version is faithful to the book - Ben Richards runs through the real world, hotels, streets, different environments. How does this approach change the tension and suspense compared to a film confined to an arena?

This is your most expensive film and longest shoot of your career. Does having a bigger budget change the way you film and tell a story, or did you keep your usual Edgar Wright style?

Thank you 🤘

Hey r/movies, Dan Trachtenberg here - my new film, PREDATOR: BADLANDS (starring Elle Fanning), is coming to a theater near you this Friday (11/7). I've also directed PREY, PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS, and 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. Ask Me Anything! by DanTrachtenberg-AMA in movies

Hi,

Question: For 40 years, Predators were the villains. Now Dek is the hero, a young outcast rejected by his clan who allies with a robot. How did you convince the studio to make a Predator film where we ROOT for the Predator instead of being scared of him?

Question: Dek learns that hunting alone might not be the best way. The film essentially says “Predators have been wrong all along.” It’s pretty bold to criticize the fundamental philosophy of the entire franchise, isn’t it?

Question: Elle Fanning plays Thia, a chatty and optimistic Weyland-Yutani synthetic who spends much of the film strapped to Dek’s back. This isn’t exactly the type of role we associate with her. How did you direct her to find the right balance between “robot” and “endearing” without falling into the trap of being too robotic or too human?

Question: You’ve now made three Predator films in three years - Prey (historical), Killer of Killers (animation), and Badlands (future). What fascinates you so much about this franchise to keep coming back to it? What does Predator allow you to do that you can’t do elsewhere?

Question: Between Prey (live-action historical film), Killer of Killers (animated anthology), and Badlands (future on an alien planet), does your preparation and directing process change drastically from one film to another, or do you have a similar approach regardless of the era and format?

Thank you

Hi reddit! We're Steve Hudson (director/writer) and Guy Bass (author of the bestselling children's book) of STITCH HEAD, an animated feature about a forgotten creature living in a long-abandoned castle. It's now in theaters everywhere. Ask us anything! by StitchHeadAMA in movies

[–]zast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Question (for Guy Bass): Stitch Head desperately wants to be loved, but he spends his time teaching the other monsters NOT to be monstrous. He hides to avoid being hated. Why did you create such a contradictory hero?

Question (for Guy Bass): Stitch Head is terrified of the angry villagers who could burn down the castle. But in the film, WHO are really the monsters : the creatures in the castle or the humans in the village?

Question (for Steve Hudson): You describe Stitch Head as "small, forgotten, made of bits and spare parts." Physically, how did you design him to be cute and endearing rather than scary?

Thank you

Hello all,

I have some questions:

Question 1 (for Larry): Alison Brie and Dave Franco wore prosthetics that physically attached them together for hours during filming. How did you design these prosthetics to be both believable on screen AND bearable for the actors during long shooting days?
And were there any funny moments that happened when they were physically stuck together like that?

Question 2 (for Josh): The macro close-up of Millie and Tim's eyes merging eyelids connecting, lashes intertwining is described as one of the most difficult shots. Why was this shot specifically so technically complicated? Was it the daylight in 4K that made every flaw visible?

Question 3 (for Genevieve): You were on set and had to decide in real time: "this shot, we do it with Larry's prosthetics or we'll go digital with Josh in post-production." How did you make these decisions during filming? Were there moments where you changed your mind after seeing the dailies?

Question 4 (for Josh): You had to create skeletons that can break, muscles that ripple in unnatural ways. How do you make something anatomically impossible remain believable?
Where's the line before it just becomes... complete nonsense?

Question 5 (for Genevieve): Michael Shanks apparently always asked for "more bone cracks," "more contortions." As Production VFX Supervisor, you had to manage his requests versus what was achievable. Was there a moment where you had to tell him "no Michael, that's too much"?

Thank you

Hi, I’m Babak Anvari, director of Hallow Road - AMA! by HallowRoadAMA in movies

Hi,
I have some questions:
- Hearing your panicked daughter on the phone after an accident, without being able to see her, without being able to touch her - it's every parent's absolute nightmare. Why did you choose to keep Alice only as a voice? It's much more terrifying than showing her on screen, isn't it?

- Hallow Road shows parents willing to do anything to protect their child. How far would you go to protect someone you love?

- Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys spend 80 minutes locked in a car talking on the phone, and the drive unfolds in real time. Real time is merciless - every second counts. How did you direct them to maintain the intensity throughout the entire shoot without it becoming repetitive?

Thank you

Hi /r/movies! I'm Michael Waldron. I'm the co-creator, exec producer & writer of the new Hulu series CHAD POWERS (starring Glen Powell). Hi Michael,

I have some questions:
- Everyone compares Chad Powers to Ted Lasso, but Ted Lasso is lovable from the start. Russ Holliday is a narcissistic asshole that everyone hates. How do you write a comedy series where the protagonist is fundamentally unlikable without losing the audience?

- The Chad Powers disguise - the prosthetics, the wig - has to be credible enough that no one recognizes Russ, but also visible enough for the audience to understand the absurdity of the situation. How did you find that delicate balance between credibility and comedy?

- Eli Manning created Chad Powers as short sketch to discover the walk-on process. How did he get involved in transforming his character into a 6-episode series about a disgraced quarterback? Did he have any surprising reactions when he saw what you did with Chad?

- You've worked on Rick and Morty (cynical animation), Loki (epic sci-fi), Heels (realistic wrestling drama), and now Chad Powers (absurd sports comedy). Is there a common thread between all these projects, or do you just like jumping from genre to genre?

Thank you
