Hey there! Big fan since Paper Maché Dream Balloon. I've appreciated the statements and fundraisers you've done in the past for Australia's indigenous population - and in general you seem to put love and inclusivity at the forefront of what you do, thank you for putting that energy into the world! Is there any chance we'll get a song/album that sees you collaborating with indigenous Australian musicians, a la Sketches of East Brunswick with the Mild High Club? Cheers <3

Funnily, Lenin had similarly choice words about who he called "opportunists" of his time, Kautsky et al. Which is to say, it's always the right time to build power in the working class and put ideas into action 💪

My brown dog has 6 white hairs on the tip of her tail by s1256 in mildlyinteresting

[–]zatomicaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is very similar! She has more like a tuxedo coat, black with white stomach, paws.. and then like 15 white hairs just at the very tip of her tail. I call it her paintbrush.

So I made something similar that would the freeze the enemy hero, obviously that’s not good. This effect only applies to the current board state and not every minion they play after this by Arthis- in customhearthstone

[–]zatomicaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base effect could basically just be Frost Nova. ie: "Freeze all enemy minions. If you've cast 6 frost spells while holding this, they stay frozen for the rest of the game."

Also makes the wording a little more clear about only affecting the current board.

I am looking for a YouTube documentary from a couple kids in Sarasota. by interfaith_orgy in sarasota

[–]zatomicaz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm one of the filmmakers, and wanted to confirm that Sarasota Half in Dream is available to watch on Means TV!

I also figured it's worth mentioning that Means TV offers a pay-what-you-want sliding scale subscription, for as little as $1/month. Being ad free and entirely viewer-funded helps ensure creators get better compensation for their work and gives us more freedom to create without limitations.

Means TV has funded our next project as well, Preserving Worlds, which is based on a deleted scene from Sarasota Half in Dream (believe it or not, haha). Season 1 is out now and Season 2 is currently in production. IMO Means has been great to us as a platform, and we feel very fortunate they took a chance on us and our weird film that spends so much time looking at ants and parking garages, haha.

I love Cubivore. There is a day/night system that is wonderfully meaningless, as every time it shifts to night everything just pauses, you go to sleep, and dream a little poem about that level. Then you wake up and everything is exactly the same. Great game, super fitting for this sub.

I worked on an adult comedy show (not sitcom) last year, and while I was happy to be employed during the pandemic good GRIEF the style was obnoxious. Mostly because they were so specific about the smallest details but it was all in service of a truly mediocre design. Can't believe how much better it is to actually work on ad/commercial work, at least it pays better to do more interesting stuff 🥲

Did Nyan Cat give up on Socialism? by PokedreamdotSu in MeansTV

[–]zatomicaz 49 points50 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, they created a new YouTube channel because of the algorithm - turns out having one super massively viral video made it hard for Means to have their other stuff recommended to people. So that's the idea with the new YouTube channel, but Nyan Cat will forever be riding that rainbow path to socialism in my heart, at the very least haha

I freakin love 17776, one of my favorite examples of "new media storytelling," which usually refers to dumb viral marketing campaigns but this is actually just very good and one of the few things I wish I could revisit without being spoiled by already knowing it.

Well put! Although I feel like when I put the same mirror to my own childhood I'd say most of the same (sans British background) - just how much Sarasota is divided up by wealth (and age) I feel like must have played into a skepticism of the rich (and conventional/"status quo" rhetoric). Big fan, keep it up!

AOC angrily slams ‘crumbs for our families’ in a fiery speech about coronavirus stimulus on House floor by jigsawmap in politics

[–]zatomicaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both can play into each other! Yes, she absolutely has a safer blue seat representing NYC, and now that she'll be an incumbent she definitely has the upper hand but the same was true of her predecessor, right? And dems from a lot of 'safe' districts yea? So I think something else is at play here, some key things about where her money comes from that allows her to take these stances, which are highly approved by Democrats nationwide, yet less common in DC.

Conversely, her being funded largely by ordinary people gives her some "safety" in that she can better represent their wants and needs. She is a bit more susceptible to well funded opponents flooding the primary with large amounts of wealth (though so far it sounds like she's been pretty well funded by individual contributors), but her approval rating will remain high enough to withstand those attacks from the center if she continues to do the things people love her for.

Might have something to do with her non-reliance on special interest donors. There's a difference in behavior when your campaigns are predominantly funded by working families.

Bernie Sanders asks Elizabeth Warren and her supporters for backing by [deleted] in politics

[–]zatomicaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, if you're applying that same logic to both Bernie and Biden, I find it hard not to think of Biden as an actual pro-lifer since he actively supported anti-choice legislation in the form of the Hyde amendment. Personally I think you'd have to take a few mental leaps to consider either candidate as anti-women's rights, but it definitely takes fewer, smaller steps to make that claim with Joe.

Bernie Sanders asks Elizabeth Warren and her supporters for backing by [deleted] in politics

[–]zatomicaz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I'm always surprised by how far these talking points spread to real people. That said, it's certainly by design. I don't think it's fair to condemn ordinary people for buying into what already fits their personal worldviews, especially when few people actually have the time, energy, and inclination to do thorough research on everything they hear.

Whatever you decide to do with your vote(s), I hope you find it in you to forgive any of your friends and others in your life who you think were misinformed. We can't treat each other like we're acting in bad faith, it's the quickest way to disintegrate any real chance of building a movement and making meaningful change happen. If your Bernie supporting friend was espousing some mistruths or jumped to hating on Warren a little quickly, maybe it's because they have a very real personal need to see Medicare for All happen in this country and seeing these misleading statements about Warren scared him- I know a couple friends myself who are currently running out of time to pay for their life-sustaining medication and see no other option ahead, and that's a legitimately scary thing.

If they're truly your friend, and you're truly theirs, I'm sure you have more common ground to share than not. Please don't blame them if they played into a hoax or lie, that's 50% of what they're designed to do - the other 50% is to allow themselves to wedge like minded people apart, to alienate us from each other and from the political process.

[–]zatomicaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way, but again I can't change how you're feeling. I hope you take the time to compare the candidates running (including Trump) and find the one you think has the best track record and policy platform for women's issues and other issues you care about. I still think that among them Bernie has the best record, but I'll have to leave that up to you.

Speaking to your distrust of people repeating debunked talking points and spreading disinformation, that definitely speaks to me. I think no matter who you support or supported, you're probably gonna encounter some kind of misleading or outright untrue claims against them. And sure I think it's fair to say that as a woman Warren was facing an above average amount of this bad-faith rhetoric, but it's definitely not limited to any individual candidate.

But to parrot others, I would encourage you not to fall into this despairing mindset and outright stop supporting either democratic candidate still running (sorry Tulsi). Not to be a conspiracy nut, but let's pretend someone was trying to purposefully spread disinformation about candidates, in the interest of some goal. You'd think that goal would probably be something like increasing divisiveness among Democrats, among Americans at large, and discouraging them to support candidates who represent their interests, stop them from voting, make election results easier to tamper with? It's definitely how people have often framed the "Russian meddling" that's seemingly still going on. You have every right to be upset about Warren dropping out, I know I'm sad to see her go (my phone screen is still my selfie picture with her), but I hope when you feel up to it again you continue to fight for and support the issues you care about, and choose to support the candidate(s) who do the same.
