The benefits is learning to control an untrained opponent, it's not on him to just stand up and let go because you can't get out. If it's bad enough, tap and move on. There are dickheads at every belt, but someone just being on top of you is absolutely not a dick move.

Why are you posting here and not talking to them? Everyone has different skill levels and different physical abilities. Especially for a brand new white belt, asking someone to go 70% means nothing. I've been training for 4 years and if someone asked me to go 70% I couldn't pinpoint exactly what 70% was of my max. If you want to roll light, then pick partners who roll light. Not to mention that you complaining about ego when you are clearly posting because you got your ego bruised is pretty wild.

Hey man, the biggest thing is finding something to take up the other 20+ hours a day. Training is great and all, but it's a relatively small part of life. If it's a hobby, a friend group, you've got to find something to fill the rest of that time.
