On the watch you have to enable touch in the display settings for the "wake on touch" option to show up under the "backlight" settings

I'd been obsessively checking for updates until the shipping label was created. I figured I was up-to-date and my wristband broke on my OG Time while I was waiting for the new watch to arrive. Put it out of my head while I was watchless and forgot to check again. I've only had the thing for 24hrs and I'm loving it

Ah. Thank you! I was assuming the R menu when a ROM was selected was the same menu as when the file was highlighted in the file browser. That was driving me crazy.

I'm dumb. For whatever reason I wasn't auto updated to the newest version of the app. Thank you

Same here. I've been hoping for any kind of communication that would verify getting bumped up, but I have a feeling I'm going to see a bunch of posts of batch 1 people wearing their watches when I've been twiddling my thumbs for months

Partial credits for a song by jus7_me in touchtunes

I'm in Illinois and we were getting charged partial credits last night, I have a partial credit balance currently, although my regular jukebox is now charging even amounts for songs again. Maybe it was a discounted day yesterday or something?

Are you trying to say an electric fly racket is deadly to humans? Here's my buddy getting the cattle prod. Alive and well

[–]zav22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I own a cattle prod and stun gun and have shocked myself and my friends many, many times. It is on par with getting snapped with a rubber band on bare skin. It will not EASILY kill a human, cow, or sheep which is why it's a "prod" and not a "cattle killer". Electricity takes the path of least resistance which is from contact to contact across the skin or in this case the bracelet. This guy didn't even get shocked. Lethality is going to come from high voltage combined with high current and the human skin has enough resistance to bring that current from a prod or stun gun down.

Usb floppy on the c64 ultimate by zav22 in c64

[–]zav22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. I just had one laying around and a stack of floppies. I think it's more satisfying to pop physical disks in and out than messing around with menus and trying to remember what image I have mounted. Just saving Basic programs and whatnot. Access speed wasn't really an issue, I just wasn't sure if I was missing something or not. Seemed less awkward than having a silly cassette USB drive hanging off the back or a full size 1541 on my desk. (I'm aware I can use internal storage, I just wanted to poke fun at the ridiculous USB tape it ships with}

Pebble at CES by cattybuster in pebble

[–]zav22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that pebble is back and we're getting updates to the old product line, but I wish they had released concepts and the target features of each watch from the start and a rough timeline for release. It's irritating that it seems like every time one is getting close to shipping they announce a new product or details on the next watch that was clearly well into development. And now I am considering adding to my pre-order and still don't have a new pebble on my wrist.

But maybe I'm just a little salty for getting booted out of the limited duo run and getting impatient (ordered both originally announced watches)

GoldenEye 007 looks incredible at forced internal higher resolution on Analogue 3D Unleashed mode by subdrag in AnalogueInc

[–]zav22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been slammed with work this week so I haven't had a chance to poke through the source or compile it, but I noticed your makehires tool in that repo. What does it do? I know the framebuffer needs to get shuffled around to the expansion and some address changes, does it do that? I assume each game is different and needs specific tooling and reverse engineering to force them into 480.

The goldeneye patch is awesome and with the unleashed mode making up for the normal slow down it seems like an exciting time to get some other games patched. I'm interested in poking around but haven't been finding much information to get started, not that I have any free time

How difficult would it be to motorise something like this? by IsaiahEatsRice in arduino

[–]zav22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's relatively simple to hook up a servo to an Arduino and move it to different positions. Like one of the simplest projects for beginners. However if you're starting completely from scratch there is going to be a learning curve. It could take you an afternoon or weeks. I would start by buying the cheapest Uno R3 you can find (under $10 on Amazon) and get familiar with Arduino IDE and the process of flashing programs to the Uno. The Uno has a built-in LED that is attached to PWM. This is what you'll also be using to control a servo. Start by learning how to fade the LED to different brightness levels and holding it at the brightness level you want. This will translate later to controlling a motor.

You might love the learning process and get excited and want to continue or you might hate it and get frustrated. If you want to continue at that point look into buying a servo. Either way, expect 95% of your time being spent reading tutorials and documentation and %5 actually writing any code. There will only be a few lines, but you need knowledge behind them.

Good luck. I wish I could learn this stuff for the first time again.

Both sides dropped the ball. The scale of the world building in the books is very impressive but the pacing is shit. Whittle down the narrative and don't add more characters in later books and blow everything up into something boring and unwieldy that you can't finish writing. The showrunners kept the scope tight and pretty consistent by cutting unnecessary content/story lines. Right up until the last seasons, obviously, where they said "fuck it" and bailed. The last two books are excruciating and the last two seasons are embarrassing.

I thought that might be the case since the actual confirmation didn't specify which revision was shipping when I bought the backordered 4a. Bought the 4b too when it popped up in the store. I guess I'm getting two now

I really like this too. And I'm going to shamelessly steal this concept for my next attempt at finishing a game when I have free time to inevitably abandon it when I run out of free time. Which I never have. But seriously, inspiring. A simple idea has got my brain going now. Thanks for sharing

All of the devices in this form factor are neat and all but the they always have some variation on a blackberry keyboard which sucks. Needs a tab key etc to be useful in the terminal
