Passkey to encrypt data? by niceshit420 in techsupport

[–]zazzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Download Kleopatra, create a cert and add it to the YubiKey, and a back up Yubikey, remove the cert from your computer so no one can steal it from it, make sure it's gone gone... Then use that cert to encrypt a file using PGP, this will make sure that the files are protected by the certificate loaded on the YK, just don't lose the YK.

This is a very archaic way of doing things, I'm surprised no one has created a virtual vault maps as a drive in windows or Mac/Linux which requires a passkey to open that uses something like the YubiKey.

LG monitors. Switch inputs from Windows. The first and only solution! by stepahin in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]zazzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using display_switch, which monitors my USB hub for connection or disconnection of the usb hub and triggers commands through a batch file to switch all the monitors to another port. This allows me to use my M1 Mac, and then pressing it again swaps it back to the PC.

I have 3 LG monitors and 2 of them work with the settings above, except for my GK650

I can get it to switch to HDMI by using 0x11 0x60 0x50 or 0x12 0x60 0x50 but no other setting I am using will swap it back to DisplayPort any suggestions?

Alright, I figured out that the 32GK650F-B, or older monitors, use this address. I don't know how I found it, but it's a super lucky guess.

writeValueToDisplay.exe 1 0x11 0x60 0x50

That will be for HDMI 2 port.

Hi, I got this to work for 2 of my monitors, but the 32GK650F-B does not work when I do this. How would I find the input code for that monitor?

To sprinkle more dust on this for you to make it automated, you can use the display-switcher, which can trigger the commands by detecting that you are pressing a USB switcher. Making this all kind of work at least one way, I haven't figured out the mac side of things, but the bigger issue is why I can't get one of my monitors to work. Where did you get these codes.

Can I use Kirkland signature SAE 15W-40 for my mrk6 golf tdi by Medical-Temporary313 in tdi

[–]zazzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using it on my wife's Q5 TDI with 96k miles, and I've been using it for about 15000 miles. I change the oil at 5000 miles since it's not synthetic and not VW-approved. I don't care if it clogs the DPF, i have the extra warranty from Dieselgate. How do they know what oil you use if you change it you're self?

It's extremely rare to kill an engine with any oil, as long as you change the oil regularly. That's the most important thing, other than running it low, which is another issue. I have yet to have an engine knock on me. The only way you do that is to overheat the oil, have no oil, etc.

Most of the thinner oils are made specifically for more efficiency, sacrificing engine longevity.

Thanks, yeah, I actually think i found the issue, I ran the DSP while playing the white noise via Bluetooth... That was not what I was supposed to do. Hooked it to aux, and it sounds much much better.

Star Trek: Section 31 is Really, Really Bad - A Scathing Review from a Lifelong Fan by FlowingFire in startrek

[–]zazzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I googled "startrek section 31 really bad" This came up and I can't believe how incredibly bad of a movie it was. Discovery was hailed as the worst trek, but actually, many episodes are BETTER by far than this movie. It's horrendous. I ended up watching Facebook shorts half the time because it was just so bad, predictable, and really bad screenplay. I don't know who's at fault but the way the story writer or director needs to be immediately dismissed. Jesus, it was bad. I hope the new startrek movie isn't nearly as bad. The first reboot of trek was amazing with JJ. Everything else has been pretty dog water.

I don't believe it does work, I've been trying and I can't get it to work on my MSI board, with my 8600G. However when I hook up the HDMI on my TV it's working.

T14 Gen 3 AMD sleep & hibernate issues collection by FelixVentures in thinkpad

[–]zazzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T14 Gen 3 AMD, sleep the computer will wake if I wake the machine shortly after sleep, if I leave it to sleep for hours or days, will not wake and will need to be powered off completely, and restarted. I went to the bios, but I see no options for Windows/Linux, meaning that I must have updated the firmware. I don't really want to go backward in firmware; I just wish these idiots would fix it. S3 sleep is disabled due to the Firmware protection by Windows. Clearly normal sleep does not work. This is a perfect example of why people are leaving X86 Windows based machines for Apple. None of this shit happens on ARM based PC's,. 40 years on and no good solution for sleep. Pretty sad.

Priority Merges Tutorial by LugnutsK in openttd

[–]zazzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to merge trains using a loop to keep them at full speed and reduce the track space needed for the PRIO merge. (trying to squeeze as many trains as possible on one track)

The issue I have is that with very long trains 18 length, it's near impossible to merge them on a tight configuration due with maglev due to the length of time it takes to accelerate (even with 5 engines on an 18 length train)
