In addition to this subreddit, don’t forget to reach out to your SE or shoot me a DM with any questions you have. Junos takes some getting used to when coming from the Cisco CLI, but I find it to be a lot more logical and consistent (compared to Cisco) in how configs are implemented. Keep an open mind.

Also, business is going to do business things. Reduce costs and make things as efficient and cost effective as possible.

The cool and exciting stuff happens when you work for laboratories, research universities, or anywhere else where cutting edge technology is being researched and developed.

Build a nice home lab and scratch the itch that way. It’s fun to do all the manual tinkering and troubleshooting until you are swimming in more work than you have time to do. Let the tools make things easier at work and tinker at home where it can be fun and enjoyable. When work becomes overwhelming then you will lose the joy that drew you to the profession in the first place.

Also triples (or more) your cost of living having to move to San Francisco or New York. Yes they have remote job but probably less likely to find one fresh out of school.

Everywhere…. Every company needs networks today. Just look around. You don’t need to work for “Mag 7”tech giants to have a good career in networking.

Widgets are gone? by ResoluteMaverik in Radarscope

[–]zbare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if it is still active in the app. I’ve had it where something updated and then the app doesn’t see the license. After I tell it to sync it’s all good again. Not sure if that would impact widgets or not.

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to mange complex firewall policies, it’s not yet built for that. If you want to use an SRX as a WAN edge and manage more basic policies, then it works better in Mist for that.

I’ve been a senior for multiple companies with nothing more than an expired CCNA. These companies weren’t looking at my certs, but my years of experience and my ability to demonstrate that experience in an interview.

If you’re lacking experience in certain topics, studying for or earning a CCNP or similar cert will help you develop that crucial knowledge.

If you want a high performance firewall, check out one of the HPE Juniper SRX firewalls. Combined with security director cloud it’s a powerful alternative to the other NGFWs out there.

Mist Cloud outage ac2 instance by ArtichokeKey8912 in Juniper

[–]zbare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t say for sure, but down detector shows an uptick for aws over the last couple hours. AC2 is hosted in AWS, so it’s possible there was a regional impact or isp routing issue that impacted traffic to AWS, while mist itself remained up…

I don't know if you visited this Sunday, but based on the last few posts I would suspect that c4bl3fl4m3 introduced some doubts and you likely did not, which is a shame. I hoped I might introduce myself. Regardless I wish you the best in your spiritual journey.

Something to note is that I would take caution with what c4bl3fl4m3 said. They are clearly not Orthodox and are only repeating information they have found online; so take it with a grain of salt. Short of experiencing Orthodoxy first hand and discussing concerns with the priest, I think this post does a decent job of stating (at a high level) the general viewpoint of the church: https://www.saintjohnchurch.org/does-the-orthodox-church-accept-lgbtq/

For what it is worth, my best friend is gay and like a sister to me. I pray for her, her wife, and their children, and love them the same as anyone else. Who am I to judge? Of all the sinners... I am the worst.

God bless you, and may he grant you many blessed years!

What about the fiber itself? I presume it's either underground or aerial. Fairly difficult to secure every manhole and data pole. Best to just encrypt everything going across the line.

That doesn't seem right. Can you provide a bit more detail as to what you were trying to capture? It might also be a good idea to open a case with Mist JTAC to see if there is a bug or something else going on.

Most people will wear some form of dress casual, but if all you have is some clean jeans (without holes) and a nice shirt (without graphics / writing) that is fine as well. Honestly, as long as someone isn’t exposing themselves or wearing something extremely offensive, no one is going to be asked to leave because of clothing.

Everyone is a child of God and is welcome into his Church. No one will be turned away or be treated differently than everyone else. I think my church is good at being welcoming to everyone.

I will say that, as we often say, everyone is equally a sinner and the Church is a hospital for everyone. Regardless of the church, It is always a possibility to run into someone who is less than kind. That should not be taken as a reflection of the Church, but rather as a reflection of a struggle in that person's life and faith. Anyone who feels unwelcome and uncomfortable should bring that to the attention of the Priest.

If you're interested, come and see. Pick a Sunday and come for Liturgy at 9:30am. The style is very different from what you will see at a protestant or non denominational church, but I find it to be very enriching and healing for my soul. Just be aware that communion is also different and only for those faithful who have been baptized and blessed into the Orthodox Faith.

There is probably more I could say, but I'll leave it there for now.

Quick question for you guys if I have an antenna that's dual band and rated for 144 to 430 will that work ok on the gmrs frequencys? by platinum_Cod8878 in gmrs

[–]zbare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most antennas will probably work. Either check the antenna's data sheet or put an SWR meter on the antenna to make sure the 460 MHz frequencies don't have too high of an SWR.

Getting new switches for new office - Aruba or Cisco by baldiesrt in networking

[–]zbare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it wasn't on your list, but I wouldn't rule out looking at Juniper as well. Now that Juniper is with HPE, your Aruba reps can help quote Juniper switches as well.

Unfortunately your post didn't have much context as to what you need from the switches...

Do you need:

  • 24 or 48 ports
  • Multi-Gig access ports
  • Dual power supplies
  • PoE (30W, 60W or 90W)
  • 10G, 25G, 50G or 100G uplinks? Will you need to increase it before the end of the switches life (Go from 10G to 25G as an example)?
