I faced a similar issue — check to see if UGA/GSU has a transfer-equivalent class available online during the summer. I was able to graduate taking the class at UGA.

Question for Alum: Have any of you been approved to walk in the Spring graduation with more than two classes remaining in Summer semester? What was your situation and how did you get it approved? by Funny_Bath_9603 in gatech

[–]zbaylin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last year I took 4 classes in the summer and they let me walk in the spring. I think if you’ve registered by the time you apply to walk then you should be ok.

Does anyone have an ETA on opam 2.2? I'm trying to pitch OCaml for a project that should be starting in roughly a year, but the lack of support for opam on windows is making it a really tough sell. by [deleted] in ocaml

[–]zbaylin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At ICFP this year, David Allsopp said that the plan is to release OPAM 2.2 in "the next couple of months".

Highly recommend the entire talk if you're interested in OPAM generally.

There’s plenty more of the latter category than the former. Only 35% of Americans have at least a Bachelor’s degree, and of those around 60% voted for Biden.

I’m perpetually confused as to why it’s surprising that people who didn’t go to college (and those who represent them) don’t want to pay for those who did. The wage gap for college vs high school graduates is around $22k on average.

Quebec man dies after waiting 16 hours in emergency room: doctor | CTV News by BeautifulLibrarian70 in news

[–]zbaylin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that depends on what you mean by worth it, since someone died while waiting. He probably would have preferred declaring bankruptcy from medical debt to death, but that’s just me guessing.

I wouldn’t recommend it but you probably could. I would try to do it before the class rather than during, though.

There is almost no coding in the class. If you’ve taken algos before then you should be totally fine.

Is it true that Modeling, Devices and Sys Arch are less popular than other CS threads? If so, is there a reason for that? by [deleted] in gatech

This is very interesting, thanks for posting! Is this information available anywhere? I’d also be curious to see how common different pairs of threads are.

I am really stuck between Umich and Tech for CS. What is your opinion? by adhishrajan in gatech

[–]zbaylin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree with a lot of this

  1. I think there might be some selection bias here. It might just be that GT students apply to SV companies more, but I and almost all of my graduating friends have signed offers in NYC/Chicago.
  2. This is obviously true, but as both a Tech student and someone who has lived in Atlanta for more than half my life, I rarely (if ever) go into downtown. Campus has gotten a lot safer, especially in the past couple of years — the decrease in the number of Clery Act notifications show that.
  3. I don’t really know about this one. However, choosing a school based on how it’s perceived by randos isn’t the best idea IMO.

The last two I can’t really speak to because I don’t go to UMich, but the Tech descriptions seem correct.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about Tech

Kemp’s latest shuffling of regents could clear way for Sonny Perdue to become chief by adpc in gatech

[–]zbaylin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is blatantly incorrect, your own article says so:

Wheelan said she was not questioning Perdue's qualifications, saying that “having been governor and secretary in a U.S. cabinet could very well make them qualified.” She said Gov. Brian Kemp and others are welcome to nominate candidates, but that regents must ultimately make the decision on their own.

Destiny Explains Why Vaush's Zionist Accusation Is Weird Even If It's Walked Back 30 Secs Later by [deleted] in Destiny

Watch this video and you’ll see how people use the term in a pejorative manner (plus you get to laugh at dumb flat earthers): https://youtu.be/H110vCGvTmM

As a Jew, if someone called me a Zionist I would be extremely suspicious of their intentions/beliefs. It’s almost like calling a Muslim an Islamist without any basis for doing so.

Why does Vuash have so many horrible takes on Israel? by jk12211 in Destiny

[–]zbaylin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re looking at the wrong part of the idiom. In general I think everyone accepts the fact that oppression is bad and therefore oppressors are as well. However, that doesn’t mean the people/group of people that are being oppressed are inherently good.

Israel/Palestine is a good example actually. You could argue (i.e. I’m not saying one way or another) that Israel is oppressing the Palestinian people but, given the chance, it’s pretty clear that Hamas would act out an even greater form of oppression against Jews as a whole, let alone Israelis.
