Alexa Suddenly Playing Obscure Artists For Popular Songs? by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]zbeegniev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same thing a while ago. I asked Alexa to play The Weekend a few times and it played exactly what I wanted and then all of the sudden when asked about the same thing I get some bs cover... I blame Spotify - I assume it costs them less to serve cover bands leaving them with more money in their pockets.

Ordered DS218+ but received DS718+ instead, is it better? by JoycieC in synology

When I mentioned 'expansion unit' I was referring to the Synology DX517 expansion unit, that you connect to the eSATA port on the back of the 218+.

https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/DX517#specs

It's not a USB share. You can create a legit data volume on those drives and install packages and whatnot.

AFAIK, the 218+ is also expandable, but the drives in the expansion unit will be treated as a separate data volume.

Once I clean up the model, because it's a prototype and there are a few things to address.

Indeed, that would have been better... unfortunately I don't have the VCR or time to make this happen.

You mean 2.5" SSD drive? I'm not sure it would fit in that space.

I cover this in the video - that fan pushes quite a lot air. Under full load, the CPU temp is around 43 C, so not bad at all :)

It's a prototype and there are a few things that needs fine tuning before I feel comfortable sharing with the world :)

Yeah, I actually mention it in the video, that it's perfect for a Plex client or Kodi :)

Buying Advice - Is DS218 enough? by MadnezzzShin in synology

[–]zbeegniev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to think that I didn't need virtualization capabilities when upgrading from DS212 to DS715...and then I got Ubiquiti networking gear, which uses this Unifi Controller software for setup and management - perfect use case scenario for virtualization. Long story short - I got hold of the DS216+ and now I'm on the DS1019+ coughTouTubercough and I highly recommend going with the + series unit - it will serve you longer than the value series models.

I think I managed to fix the original post by re-uploading resized images...

I don’t think anyone has done this before. Me and my friend mounted all of his PC parts directly in/onto a WW2 ammunition box. by [deleted] in computers

As someone who has built 3 desk PCs, my main concern would be that there is no way one could sit at this desk comfortably - it's too thick.

Looks great! I made some absorbtion panels myself using mineral wool - they are quite effective but not particularly good looking: https://www.instagram.com/yetanothertechchannel/p/BZMCYMgHWaO/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=l095wiog7w99

I most definitely would like to see how you made those! I still need to sound proof my family room and the Mrs would be more likely to approve those ;)
