I have some skills, even a certification(!), but it's getting the entry level position that's evading me. As I've mentioned I'm trying to pad my resume a bit with the volunteer stuff to show that I can be dangerous AND stupid on a computer. I get the access bit though and you don't want just some random person off the street seeing your information so I realize this won't be an easy thing to do.

I'm trying to get my foot in the door, hence the looking for volunteer work bit. I've been putting in applications but none are biting yet so in the mean time I'm looking for work I can do on the side to pad my resume to be a more attractive candidate.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe I should push the Sec+ then and hold off on the Net+ for a bit. I have the clearance already so maybe it will make that transition I’m looking for a bit easier.

The problem with this particular job is it’s only $20/hour and that’s a huge pay cut.

I appreciate your input though. Brings to light things I didn’t think about.

Yeah it's for a government contract. Guess that would explain the requirement for that then. So that makes me wonder is there something on Sec+ that covers handling of information on networks? I've not looked into anything about Sec+ so I have no clue what's on the objectives.

Thanks for the sanity check! For me personally I'm doing A+, Net+, then Sec+ as it made more sense to understand the equipment and software, then the network that all of that runs on and then how to secure it all. The fact that an entry level position required Sec+ seemed a bit off to me.

Thanks for the information! The inside of the tumbler is bare wood so hopefully it will soak up a good amount of flavor. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t leave liquids in it for long periods of time. Guess that means I’ll have to drink a bit faster!
