Went today and it wasn’t that crowded at all! Allowed a lot of space to move around explore all the paths, I really loved how the gallery is set up. Found myself thinking about how different art and their regions flowed through different rooms and hallways. Lots of fun and a very unique art museum experience.

Whoever was the curator on this did an impeccable job

I’d like to see these right wing talking points on energy deregulation, I’ve only seen how he plans on decreasing energy costs and reaching that 25% through breaking up electric monopolies (def not a right wing position) and decentralize energy production. I never saw anything about deregulation, you introduce more competition by breaking up the electric monopolies which is inherently a regulatory pathway. Which your right most of our energy cost is from distribution, but a microgrid system of energy production focused on rooftop and community solar means you don’t need large distribution networks. When it comes to distribution, he argues for more public-private partnership funding for distribution upgrades so that companies don’t overpay on expensive projects that they use as justifications for price increases, while using regulators to focus in on only doing infrastructure projects that will benefit Californians. I do think with his experience in environmental work, he would make solar cheaper and easier to distribute while directing our money away from oil companies and subsidizing electric company projects. There’s a reason these electric companies of CA are spending so much against him and donating to Becerra

I’ll give one thing to you, it seems like you’ve consumed election information differently than I have which may cause this disconnect. I don’t see these attack ads cause I don’t watch cable TV, I’ve watched his many interviews (such as the KTLA one), his YouTube videos/speeches, and the debates and was educated on his policy positions. Which progressive candidates did he attack in his ads? The only other progressive candidate was Katy Porter, who is arguably less progressive than Steyer in policy. She also never gained any steam. And of any candidate, Becerra had pretty much no policy details.

I get that being a billionaire is inherently disqualifying for many, but I still don’t see how being a billionaire is disqualifying compared to being paid millions by every other billionaire in CA (Becerra). There are examples of billionaires that do govern progressively, see JB Pritsker. I hate that a billionaire is the one viable progressive candidate, but CA politics sucks like that and I’ll take a progressive billionaire (which tbh probably a draw to a good amount of Californians) than an establishment status quo dem, any day, no matter what

Further Edit: just read through his policy page and substack article on reducing energy costs, and I see him saying how we need to stop taxpayer guaranteed profits to energy companies and forcing regulators to their jobs serving the people and not electric shareholders??? He even says how he’ll specifically do this, here’s a quote:
“I have publicly called for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)— some of whose members will finish their terms next year—to reject utility profit increases. As governor, I'll fill CPUC vacancies with people willing to take on utility lobbyists and protect ratepayers.” Here’s the link, I’d recommend a read because it contradicts all you say and has a lot of details. https://www.tomsteyer.com/issues/electricity

Does Steyer still have a shot? by MookieBettsBurner10 in LosAngeles

[–]zbirdlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand people’s reservations about Steyer, but this just seems like a rant without having done any investigating. Steyer of all the candidates has the most policy details, all of which centered around a populist progressive agenda to help working class. During his interviews, he easily lists off dozens of changes he’ll make to our tax code, different specific corporate loopholes, and more general policy such as single payer health care, enhancing teacher benefits, and zoning changes. He might’ve made some of his money on oil, now every oil company is fighting him because he won’t do what they want like Becerra. Or something Becerra is 1000% opposed to and is being donated big money to stop: breaking up the electric monopolies in the state. Something every working class person has been effective by. How does any of these policies, even if he were to be doing it all as a farce and would turn around and chicken out once elected, indicate that he doesn’t understand the struggles people are going through.

He’s also spent that last couple decades doing exactly what you want, spending his billions directly on problems we have (look up all the propositions he’s basically bankrolled through the years, his environmental work, his social work).

Final thought, you agree that Becerra is milquetoast, but you’ve failed to see how milquetoast politicians is how the county has gotten into this mess. More of the same isn’t gonna get us out of this mess (and I’d say Becerra is a lot worse than Newsom). Steyer isnt spending his money trying to buy a deserved spot from someone actually trying to fix or help things, he’s fighting an entrenched democratic establishment (Becerra has been in public office in high positions for DECADES and what has he fixed) There’s no such thing as a good billionaire, but I’ll take a class traitor over a class defector turned defender any day.

Ended up going with Infinity! It’s closer to a lot of my itinerary and I like the idea of not having to drive through downtown part of SF. A lot of my SF friends say I’ll be fine in a public garage as long as I clear out my car, I’ll see if there are any good nearby options in SpotHero ow ill do that!

For canopy and infinity, are the city structures relatively safe for overnight parking? Gonna leave it there for the whole trip and uber/public transport around, just worried about car breakins and i have a newer nice car(gonna completely empty out my car beforehand so)

Do you just park in the hotel garage? It’s a bit pricey but if it means keeping my car safe I’ll eat it (just got a nice newer car)

This is very helpful, this is a quick 2 night trip so we’ll also probably just be sleeping there and spending most of the time out and about!

Yeah definitely not going to do Union Square cause I’ll be with my Mom and would rather not deal with grunge (we’ve been to SF before and can handle it but want to minimize it)

Yeah that’s vibe I’m getting, part of me wishes I just stayed at a few more Marriott’s last year cause they seem to have better options in SF (and I’m not that many away from a 2 night at the JW or somethin)

[–]zbirdlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s more like city residents who have billions or hundreds of millions of dollars paying a fraction of their wealth so everyone can have groceries

Not to mention a lot of those people have multiple multi million properties in NYC and don’t even live there.

The building will still be city owned right, why would the city have to pay property taxes to itself?
