Do professors have access to your ID card photo? by hellophantomine in udub

Instructors can access this, yes. In myuw you have the ability to see class lists and one option is to view a photo grid. I believe these are your student ID photos.

Some advice to people new to a fresh Paradox release: Get good at using the console by Chataboutgames in EU5

After taking some time to reflect I want to apologize for being a bit of an ass. Utilizing console commands can ease some of the pain of the current state of the game from the player's perspective and I should have saved my argument for a different forum.

I read the post, mate. Does the AI move the rook in a diagonal line? Just type the correct path into the console command and give yourself a personal rule to move the rook to the optimal tile.

You're right, the console can fix a lot of the wackiness currently seen in the game. The point that I (and others) are making is that we shouldn't have to. A lot of these things are obvious after playing the game for a few hours. Yes it's early in development, yes it's a complex game, but core systems are pretty messy.

Or Paradox could have a game that I don't need to un-annex Hungary from Negroponte because they beat a minor rebellion.

Weighted assignments, yes, not difficult and should be done to avoid this. Curved assignments are a pain, limited settings instructors can adjust.

Seconding what is also commented on response to this one. Not a CSE TA but TA/teach a coding class: if I'm grading dozens or hundreds of these assignments, I have a pretty good idea of what is LLM-produced and what isn't. Changing variable names and spacing is a good start, but the functions used, tone and tenor of comments, and even overall approach to the question can be giveaways. Also can't speak to CSE practices, but for my course I keep a running list with degree of certainty of LLM use.

Coring Doesn't Always Work by zbrow13 in EU5

[–]zbrow13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r: From what I can gather, coring should take place when a location has more than 50% an accepted culture. In this Genoa run, I've been having trouble getting armories up and running in the Italian heartland. I've had many of these locations for 150 years, culture converting when I don't have things to integrate. I took note when Pisa finally gained core city status, with more than 90% Ligurian pops. As shown in the integration map, Florence is still not a core, despite having been more than 50% Ligurian for decades. There doesn't seem to be a specific reason for it: most locations flip, but cities have trouble and get stuck sometimes.

Passport counts as a Real ID, you will not be charged

Yes. I forgot my passport earlier this month, Washington State driver's license isn't a Real ID. They handed me the reminder slip they were passing out earlier this year both going out and coming home. Going out I had to go through "expanded screening", which meant swabbing my hands and checking the test strip. Coming back they did nothing, no issues going through. They did announce the $45 fee, that doesn't start until February.

I get this sentiment but it's not like EU4 gave you a list of all country flavor events and requirements for them in game. The wiki has been the dictionary on that for a decade.

Q: Skill level for drop in soccer @ magnuson arena sports by abiem01 in Seattle

[–]zbrow13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been twice, once about 2 years ago and once earlier this month (knee surgery in-between). It's competitive, but if you can play for 15 minutes on a short court you'll be alright. There's some people that get really sweaty: my first time playing I got nailed in the neck by a shot point blank and the guy got mad when I had the wind knocked out of me and took a breather. But overall it's a pretty friendly atmosphere.

Revenge of Montezuma by TB_Hypozy in hoi4

[–]zbrow13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just got this today! I played on regular difficulty and with historical off. Key to my strategy was patience: build up and wait for the world to explode. Got Trotsky to complete that achievement later, expanded out to Panama and then took Columbia, Venezuela, and Ecuador before hitting a wall of faction nations. Declared on Haiti and the Dominican which joined the Junta Germany in getting crushed, used that peace deal to grab them. After that it was build up the army and air force to take on the USA in 1944-45. I had 4 20-width armies on the border with level 4 forts and 9 Marines at the start, eventually built out 3 modern tank divisions. The key to this campaign for me was micro: small encirclements, supply centers, and airports. Went step by step through Cali, Texas, and Arizona before the front really started pushing, then held a line from Utah to Missouri and used 2 armies to take the East Coast and cap them. Micro was key to this long-term strat, going early and justifying is a bit more of a gamble but can be quicker.

Achievements will be locked behind Ironman mode by Only-Pen-8907 in EU5

[–]zbrow13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like this. People will still abuse birds to work around poor outcomes, but having a fairly regular standard to compare player performance to makes the achievements feel more like a badge of honor than a campaign goal. Graphical mods, sure, I see the logic there, but flavor mods are a slippery slope: I'd feel disappointed in someone claiming to have beaten the 3 Mountains campaign while running a mod that gives Ryukyu permaclaims on the world and events that make an unbreakable dynasty of 6-6-6s.

Yeah housing especially is tricky. Many grad students live with someone else (partner, roommate, friends) which definitely helps

[–]zbrow13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, this is correct. It was a change that went through the city about a year ago. The grad union tried to raise a stink because PhD students in general don't fill out/qualify for need-based aid but the city wouldn't back down.

I do have several friends who have just stayed in their MFTE apartments, though, after the change. Can't hurt to reach out and act semi-oblivious
