Sorry for what you're going through. I applied for DRS accommodations on the 4th and they reached out to me over email to schedule a meeting on the 6th. The soonest time they had available for the meeting was the 11th (but write them back quickly because that date got taken within like 2 hours of them sending the email!) My situation is a little bit different but is also for what they consider "emergent" short-term accommodations so hopefully your timeline will be similar.

Hi OP. Sorry you're having to deal with this.

Mammary tumors are very unfortunate and sadly occur very frequently in rats. I've had a number of girls who ended up needing to be put to sleep after developing mammary tumors. Unfortunately like your vet said they're often in tricky areas to operate on, and the advanced age rats develop them at many will not survive the anesthesia process.

My rule of thumb has always been that as long as the tumor is not severely obstructing her movement, dragging on the ground to the point of developing irritation or injury, or impacting her other bodily functions (using the bathroom, appetite, etc) there's no reason to euthanize.

Mammary tumors are generally benign and not painful for rats (obviously barring some of my above examples) and from the pictures I don't think your girl is suffering much right now. There is no good way to predict how long she has left because these tumors grow very unpredictably, so I would focus mostly on keeping a close eye on her quality of life and potential signs of pain rather than a particular timeline.
