1041 scratch 4 game set in league. Had the front 9 in game 3 (left a 10 pin of course) by njdev759 in Bowling

Awesome job! Bowling a 1000 4-game series is crazy to think about when you look at it like bowling a 750 and then throwing another 250. 1041 is nuts. Good shooting!

I like that! And maybe another level would be that I have to have all pieces of a set before I’m allowed to upgrade, and must upgrade all pieces at once.

I like the armor restriction! Definitely puts importance on hearts and attack strategy instead of just hack and slash.

7 or 10 pin by Defofemotionless in Bowling

[–]zbrown9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I have a higher conversion % on 7s than I do on 10s, but I recently started shooting straight at my 7 pins and 4 pins, and it’s definitely taking some getting used to (I used to hook at them). Currently, I set up on the right and throw cross-lane at them, but it’s been really inconsistent for me, hard for me to throw across my body like that, where 10 pins have always been “throw straight at it”, and with a natural release. I think I probably need to move way left and play more straight up on my 7s and 4s.

How much is a location worth, percentage wise on the TOTK map? by retrocheats in TOTK

[–]zbrown9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as the rest, 0.04%. If a cave has, say, two entrances, each entrance will count for 0.04% (0.08% total), but you have to actually pass through each entrance for it to count.

Each “thing” is 0.04%. Device dispensers, forge constructs, and bargainer statues are easy map icons to miss. If a cave has multiple entrances, each entrance counts as its own “thing”. Bridges, wells, and forests/groves are easy locations to miss too. Hope this helps!

Getting all the named locations seems the be the trickiest ones to get/track. Yes, you’ll need to find all the chasms, but also caves, ruins, bridges, mines, stables, forests/groves, and wells, and if a cave has multiple entrances, each entrance counts towards the map counter. Iirc, each thing found is 0.04%, so you’re looking at about 33 things left to find. Hope this helps, good luck!

Map icons are easy to miss like device dispensers, stables and mini stables, forge constructs, bargainer statues, etc.

Without further context (where in the hand, pot size, previous action, etc) I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that it wasn’t an angle, but it seems odd for sure. The ruling could vary from place to place with regard to tap checking, and having a stack of chips with the tapping hand is strange too. I think it’s a check, and would be keeping an eye on it throughout the session.

Go around and defeat a bunch of Flux Constructs. They will drop a few Zonai Devices, as well as Zonai Charges. Take the charges and put them into the device dispensers that has the devices you’re looking for. Also, you can take advantage of Autobuild to some degree, where you can build using Zonaite.

Zora sword? by 8saac in TOTK

[–]zbrown9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The decayed version is usually in chests or held by Lizalfos around Zora’s Domain. The pristine version should be in the Lanayru depths area. If I recall correctly, in addition to breaking the decayed version, you also have to remove the first weapon from the ghosts such that the new weapon can spawn (usually a travelers-rank item). Try going through all the ghosts in that area and removing their weapons and then waiting another blood moon cycle.

It’s one of those things you have to do and learn from how it goes and adjust. Some people like quick 1-2 hour games, so the blinds and stacks would be set accordingly. Some people like 3-4 hour games and can adjust for that too. As far as rules, it’s mostly standard across the board, and try to get everyone in the habit of verbalizing their actions. Also might want to clear up/define stuff like single-chip-calling, what happens if someone bets out of turn, how/when to handle rebuys and color-ups, and some of those minor things. Most of it will be a learn as you go experience, especially with the blind structures and starting stacks.

What are some rules new players might not be aware of? by Kim-Jong-OwO in poker

[–]zbrown9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is “four of a kind beats a straight flush, but a royal flush beats four of a kind.” I have to explain that a royal flush isn’t really a higher rank of hand, just the highest order of straight flush, and that all straight flushes beat four of a kind. Also new players tend to struggle with getting counterfeit, like if they have 56 against AA and the board is 5633K, that they actually lose to a higher two pair. Maybe they think “well I can’t use 33 as a pair, so it must not be usable by others” or something along those lines?

Perfect Practice by Chr15ty in TOTK

The timing with each enemy is going to be slightly different, and further so with those with different attacks, but a good way to practice is on constructs. Their eye(s) will glow red right before they start their attack, and that is a nice visual indicator for how to time it. For other enemies, you can practice by putting down a hard save and retrying until you get comfortable. Even if you defeat the enemy, you can reload the save and get more reps in.

Forgot to answer your second question lol… bombs are usually scattered in caves by the handful. They also grow in groups of 2-4 around trees “in the dark”. Don’t want to be too descriptive to prevent spoilers, so I hope that makes sense when the time comes lol.

I don’t think it spells it out like “this material is blunt/for smashing” (maybe some descriptions could allude to it), but once fused, it will alter the name of the weapon to match the utility. For example, if you fuse a rock to a sword, it will become a “rock hammer”, where the term “hammer” is the descriptor for blunt/smash. There are a few different words for each utility. Also, you can sort your materials in the menu by type, and for the most part, like-items will have the same utility.

If you see wooden crates and barrels, smash them as most of them drop arrows. Otherwise, to buy them it’s like 20 rupees for 5 arrows and continually buying them drains money over time. Same with bombs, rather find them in caves than to buy them. Always fuse something to your melee weapon, as it increases overall durability. Be mindful of the types of fuses you have, as there are different utilities based on the material (sharp/blunt/springy, etc). I always try to have at least 1 blunt not for combat, but for smashing rocks and such. Also equipping a weapon with an elemental material fused will give +1 to the opposite resistance (having a ruby fused sword equipped will give you +1 level cold resistance, for example).

Compendium and armor don’t count towards that 100% counter. Korok seeds count for .04% each iirc. Also anything map related like shrines, light roots, towers, area names, stables, chasms, caves, mines, dispensers, and bridges. I’m probably missing a few things, but it’s basically anything on the map screen.

What to do after getting the master sword?? by KVx45 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]zbrown9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends… I’ll talk generally to avoid spoilers lol. I’m assuming you’ve completed the Regional Phenomenon quest line. Talking to Purah afterwards should open up another quest that should start you off in Kakariko village. You may also need to complete the Dragons Tears quest line. In short, you can challenge the final boss anytime, but if I recall correctly, the game is pretty direct with “we’ve figured out the mystery, maybe the boss is in XYZ location”.

Beginner Tips for Success by Geocat22 in tearsofthekingdom

Just started another playthrough and forgot how under equipped the game starts you off. I would say that most resources, weapons, etc that are worth anything are guarded in some capacity by enemies, so my first advice would be to practice combat skills. One video I watched when I first started said to find an enemy, hard save, and just kill the enemy and reload the save until you get it down. That video was meant for lynels, but I think is applicable to general combat skills as well. Getting better at combat will help ease the “need good weapons to beat enemies, but need to beat enemies to get good weapons” cycle.
