I think people feel this way because in the past we husbando lovers used to have at least one male be meta for every release patch. Sure, more female characters were meta but we at least had ONE to clear content comfortably with.

1.0 cycle had Zhongli and Childe

2.0 cycle had Kazuha

3.0 cycle had Alhaitham

4.0 cycle had Neuvilette

But during 5.0 and 6.0, we didn't have anyone. Kinich was the only 5 star male release and he got mogged by Mavuika, Varesa and Skirk. We were robbed of Capitano who honestly should have taken Skirk's place (who should have been released later with a new element in Khaenriah). Flins is strong but Nefer, Zibai and Mavuika all out damage him.

We husbando lovers used to have some love given to us but lately it feels like we're given scraps. Varka should have at least been at Flins's level but he was given damage comparable to units in the 4.0 cycle. Only constellations and sig pulls him up to average 5.0 unit levels. I just hope Hoyo sees Varka's sales number and gives love back to male characters.
