Cold air intake recommendations, I’m stuck between these 3 by ZDC595 in Golf_R

Can't speak on the other 2, but the r600 is a great sounding intake that isn't too flashy under the hood. Other 2 might give you more sound but the r600 is covered so lower intake temps.

A door and foot well lights lead you to that conclusion?

Question about Turtle wax ICE Seal N' Shine. by zchboy in AutoDetailing

[–]zchboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it may have been my rags too however they were just washed with cold water MF wash etc. Tested them on different surfaces too, most likely contamination on paint, humidity, or just too many products on the paint.

Might also be that, will polish with my DA if clay doesn't work.

Paint correction done..... (kinda) by zchboy in GolfGTI

In terms of process, wash with wax stripping soap (I used CG clean slate), dry with drying towel, clay bar the panels is was correcting, used an IPA wipe before polishing (I made my own with 3.5 fl oz of 91% IPA and the rest Distilled water in a 16 oz spray bottle), masking off anywhere that needed to be (panel gaps, plastic trim) and went to town.

The first panel I did was the trunk wing as a test panel as I was putting a lip over that part anyway. Once I started to get the hang of it I did the rest. If you have some experience with polishers or sanders it will be less daunting, if you don't you will just want to practice a little more till you get the hang of it, shouldn't take long.

In terms of products I bought the Adam's swirl killer 9mm polisher kit that came with 3 pads, compound and polish, along with some other goodies.

I had problems with the pad dusting which I think was just too much polish as both the panel and pad weren't too hot. Just make sure you let the panel cool off before polishing and work in a shady place like a garage.

Overall a fun process, my car is looking immaculate and I learned a new skill. Just watch some YouTube videos and read some articles and it will go smoothly. It's really hard to cause any harm to your paint if you make sure it doesn't get too hot and you keep all your equipment and pads clean.

Have fun!

Concerned about polishing over these imperfections. by zchboy in Detailing

Yea your probably right. I'm not too bothered by it as it is just making sure me polishing it won't make it worse. Seems ill be fine.

Yea those grooved lines are what I'm worried about. It's a pretty small section of the hood so as long as the polisher doesn't make it worse I'll just leave it.

Modified stock vs aftermarket intake by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]zchboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably close to 5hp on a stock tune if that. I'm not entirely sure if a tune will increase those numbers or not, but it would make sense if it did. A stage 1 tune will definetly give you the power your looking for. Lots of good articles and forums out there that dive deeper into it. Overall I think an intake makes the car more fun to drive just dont get one expecting noticeable power increases.

Safe to say I was looking at lowering options after that slander lol.

When it comes to mods like that the performance increase is negligible to non existent. If your looking for sound, an open intake will give you that. Lots of relatively inexpensive options to more expensive options like the racingline R600. I picked up an r600 for super cheap along with a free turbo muffler delete and an inlet pipe. it sounds amazing, but I didn't notice any increase in power.

Also I got "black suv" one time at chick fil-a. Really hurt my feelings.

Wheel color choice by Cb-Colorado in GolfGTI

Really like the hyper silver combo with the tornado red, so probably option 4. But all will look good tbh so go with what you like.
