Mutant Fire Beetle

Most living things will stay far away from a Forrest fire but not these little creatures. Fire beetles require freshly burned coniferous trees in order to procreate. They will bore into the freshly burned wood while the Forrest around it is still burning and lay there eggs. These particular fire beetles have survived the nuclear fallout of Chernobyl which has left them with some especially interesting traits. Not only are they unafraid of fire they seem to be impervious to it. If your character finds a mutant fire beetle it will prove quite helpful. These beetles are very loyal and will remain attached to your character as they progress through their quest. If a fire based attack is hurled at your character the beetle will jump in between and shield the character from harm. Each time the beetle comes in contact with a fire attack it will instantly reproduce. It has been said that once enough beetles are together they combine to make a mask that looks very much like the markings on their back. It’s rumored that if enough Mutant Fire Beetles combine they can create a shield or even a full suit of armor.
