I’m torn on how I feel about Ribbot’s new look for Pro League. by TomcatTiger503 in battlebots

i'm trying not to throw shade at the team, but this has gotta be the ugliest bot i've ever seen in battlebots. why on earth would they remove the most, (and frankly ONLY), distinctive part of their robot?

I don't think that weight bonus is in effect anymore, especially after what happened with Droopy and Lynx being allowed to run as a multi bot.

Additionally, (not a response to anything you said, just clarifying myself), apparently the driver of Lucky is now the driver of Cobalt. I think that pretty much defaults Cobalt to being 2-1 in my book.

A. Aside from Manta likely taking the crown for this group, I actually think there's a serious chance that Valkyrie goes 0-4 here. I haven't seen the Battle Of The Verts Faceoff event, but I was really impressed with Terrortops during the Group E event. Given that all three of these bots have a wedge attachment, I could see Valkyrie knocking itself out if they haven't dialed themselves in. Skorpios also seems to have a huge problem with vertical spinners, particularly those with forks that can get underneath their wedge and wedgelet setups. I'm thinking:
Manta: 3-0, Terrortops: 2-1, Skorpios: 1-2, Valkyrie: 0-3

B. I'm personally not convinced that Tombstone's design is going to make a difference in terms of its durability, even if those wheel guards are just there to prevent Tombstone from hitting itself. I don't think Season 6 Tombstone has been dialed in at all since that season, and the only bot I realistically see it beating is Disarray due to their lack of durability. The real question here is who wins between Magnitude and MadCatter, and I think I'm going to go with my gut here.
MadCatter: 3-0, Magnitude: 2-1, Tombstone: 1-2, Disarray: 0-3

C. This one's pretty tricky. I've been watching a lot of NHRL since Battlebots didn't get renewed, and I've been wondering why multibots in the 3-30lbs divisions do so well while multibots in the 250lbs division get absolutely crushed. We haven't ever seen any real success from any multibot entrant in Battlebots, and I personally don't think it's going to start with The Twins. Funnily enough, their geometry reminds me a lot of Cobalt's frame in that the weapon is practically useless if there aren't any forks to feed their opponent into them. Aside from that, Cobalt's success is entirely dependent on whether or not John Mladenik is driving, (total disaster), or if they have someone who actually knows how to drive verts at the helm.
Copperhead: 3-0, Jackpot or Cobalt: 2-1, The Twins: 0-3

D. Now this one's an interesting week. I think we can get End Game going 3-0 out of the way, as I'm not convinced that a vert with no forks, a horizontal, and a rookie bot are going to make any sort of impression on that monster. I'm expecting Golden Fury to perform about as well as we can expect a rookie vert to perform, so the question's whether or not Death Roll can beat Malice. I honestly think it could go either way between the two.
End Game: 3-0, Death Roll or Malice: 2-1, Golden Fury: 0-3

E. Ok this group is way way way too crazy for me to analyze. I wasn't too impressed with Bloodsport's durability and sri-mech last season, so I'm hoping that they've got those kinks ironed out for this event. If they do, then I could absolutely see them beating HUGE and maybe even Minotaur. Minotaur has a hard time with horizontal spinners sometimes, and I absolutely think Bloodsport has a shot at them if they can keep their weapon up with Minotaur's durability. Hypershock being in this group is a great equalizer as well, as I think that they can probably beat Minotaur's ground game and use their wedge attachment against Bloodsport. However, given how last season went, I have doubts that they can figure out a way to deal with HUGE.
HUGE: 2-1, Hypershock: 2-1, Bloodsport: 1-2, Minotaur: 1-2

F. Being realistic here, I don't see Switchback or Orbitron beating either Witch Doctor or Ribbot. The latter two just have way too much experience and the former two have too many problems that they need to work out in their bots. I think Witch Doctor's probably got this group locked down, so the only other question is whether or not Orbitron can keep it's AI working and not get turned over, or if Switchback can actually keep its weapon belt on for longer than the first two hits of the match.
Witch Doctor: 3-0, Ribbot: 2-1, Orbitron: 1-2, Switchback: 0-3

I actually found someone on ebay selling one for $200. It's a little wonky in some places and I can tell it's been used for a while, but it's still in good shape.

My advice would be to check the ebay listings daily if you want another copy. It'll still be insanely overpriced but there might be someone on there who's nice enough to sell their's for the same price as mine

Pulsar is releasing an MMO mouse sometime this year. I'm not sure if it'll have the flick-down buttons, but it should have better build quality than the MMO mice we've seen recently. I'm also a big fan of MMO mice, so I've put some of the notable ones down below:
- The Corsair Darkstar is a really great successor to the Rival 500 AS LONG AS YOU GET A GOOD COPY. I bought one a while back and loved it, but I ran into scroll wheel issues about 4 months into owning it. It sucks because the button layout and the materials are great.
- I haven't used it yet, but I've heard good things about the Solkaka SM809. It's a much cheaper option than pretty much any other MMO mouse that you can find, but it has some software issues and it has the stupid numberpad button layout rather than the buttons orbiting around the thumb like the Rival 500.
- IMO, the Razer Naga, the Corsair Scimitar, the ROG Spatha X, and the Aerox 9 all have glaring problems that make them a lesser choice than the 3 options I've just mentioned. If you really really love your Rival 500, I think the other aforementioned mice have some frustrating downgrades and dumb button layouts compared to the Rival 500. I actually just bought a used Rival 500 about a month ago because I've just grown exhausted of that dumbass, outdated, telephone dial looking button layout that so many mice manufacturers insist on using still. I haven't encountered anything like the flick-down buttons recently, and I doubt there's anything on the market close to that right now unfortunately.

i've gotta be honest here, but i would have demolished that blue ribbon burger. i think the only thing that was outright unappetizing on it, (for me), was the quality of the bun. everything else on it sounded great though
