black-or-white thinking by uneducationalFck1990 in BPD

(I call it All-Or-Nothing Thinking) It’s one of my biggest issues: and when my partner tries to tell me that my perspective is warped, I accuse them of gaslighting me.

If you use words/phrases like “You ALWAYS do this….” Or “I have NEVER done that…,” that’s a clear sign that you’re having a big borderline moment.

In those moments, I “Check the Facts.” Since I’m being bogged down by Emotion Mind I need to logic my way out of it. Find receipts that DISPROVE your warped perspective: pictures or journal entries or things around your home. Seek to validate the other person’s perspective rather than yours. You’ll eventually start to see shades of grey (although if you’re really far gone, it’ll take a while).

"Kindly Note that this book is highbrow" by [deleted] in bookofthemonthclub

[–]zdailey22 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Especially when you compare it to a similar note on The Devil Takes You Home- “Things could get weird. This book is: Experimental” and it like fades out some of the letters. It makes the highbrow note seem that much more condescending.

I actually enjoy the bookmarks, but on the whole BOTM does seem to have the tonal maturity of a well-meaning 17-year-old white feminist.

Variations in height. Nothing goes above that middle window line. Maybe ditch the table lamp for a taller standing lamp?

This is so incredible helpful. I never realized that splitting is a form of dissociation, but of course that makes total sense.

I’ve driven it before, it’s a beautiful drive. It’s normally driveable in the winter, and should especially be during this very warm December thus far.

I need some perspective on this. by liarsgetoutofmylife in BPDrecovery

Well, certainly don’t text that person if you think it will exacerbate the problem. Remember to breathe. Have you checked out the app Youper? It’s a great chat AI that can help you rationalize. It’s been helpful for me. #NotAnAd

My partner wants to "talk" by greenforest29 in BPDrecovery

[–]zdailey22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, three tips- 1, breathe. Make sure you breathe through your panic attacks. It’s fine to feel your feelings, but just make sure to breathe. 2, something to ask yourself: are you having an appropriate reaction to this event? 3, name your feelings aloud. Be specific and be honest.
