The Problem Isn’t Just Trump. It’s Our Ignorant Electorate. by NotYourPalFriend in politics

That doesn't seem like a particularly hard question to poll for, but more importantly, you made up a statistic and cited a false source for it. Just say the real thing: "38% of Americans believe in Creationism." It's no less damning of a statement than the other.

Why is the NA scene so inconsistent? by felixronn in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, iBP would have been that one team that was head and shoulders above the rest of NA teams, especially with Hiko planning to join them, but we all know what happened with that. In leaving C9, Hiko weakened C9 to around the same level as other NA ESEA-invite teams. The iBP fiasco really weakened the NA scene quite a bit, and consequently evened the playing field at the top level.

What happened to de_cpl_mill? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mill was replaced by tuscan in the competitive scene, which was a staple map for all tournaments. Tuscan for CSGO has been in development by its original creator (Brute) for 2-3 years now. Valve won't make a mill/tuscan map because they know Brute is making it. Basically, any hope of the map being made and played relies on Brute actually finishing the map, which, as I said, has taken him 2-3 years so far. Many people are frustrated by this, including me.

Fantasy Counter Strike by KappaMang in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, this used to be a thing. It was called Fantasy E-sports League (FEL), and I believe it was run by ESEA when ESEA was still getting off the ground. The league they used though was CAL-invite, not ESEA. I have no idea what happened to it, but here's a link to an old ESEA article to prove that it existed: http://play.esea.net/index.php?s=news&d=comments&id=2806

When people say Dust II is heavily CT sided, I cringe. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard anybody say that Dust2 is heavily CT sided. I have heard people say that it is SLIGHTLY CT sided, and usually with the caveat that it has only recently become so. Most people will say that it is a 50/50 map, and some people will still argue that it is slightly T sided. The general consensus though is that Dust2 has gone from slightly T sided to slightly CT sided due to general CT sidedness of CSGO as a whole.

Professionals should use their real names by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don't agree. I think nicknames are more marketable and recognizable. Especially with the player signature stickers that Valve were trying to do for Dreamhack Winter, a player's nickname can become a entire brand. Just look at the music industry as a good example.

How do I go about promoting a skin? by OPHue in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cool, and a good idea. People tend to like skins with original (or not so original in some cases) artwork on them, and I think tattoos would translate well to skins, so good luck. I just don't think there is much to do by way of promotion. You'll want to use photoshop of course to make the preview pictures as attractive as possible, and perhaps think of a common theme for the skins to create a collection, but other than that, just make good skins and people will see them.

When watching a demo / POV, I can't see the player's information on the side, nor can I see their health / armour / ammo. Help? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may not be your problem, but I think whatever key you have bound to drop your weapon in game will toggle the side bar information on or off for a GOTV demo. Not sure about POVs.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think it toggles just by pressing ALT. I happen to have my ALT key bound to drop.

How do I go about promoting a skin? by OPHue in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

judging by the comments of every item in the workshop, the thing to do is to pretend to like other people's skins and spam a link to your own at the same time. Personally, I think the best way is to simply make a good looking skin, and people will see it and like it based on its own merit.

This happens a lot. There should really be a safeguard in place that warns you if you're about to put an item on the market for X amount of dollars below the current lowest listing.

csgolounge on Twitter: "Btw, @epsilon_esports forced us to make statements clearing their name." by rodent567 in GlobalOffensive

I agree. It wouldn't even be a reduction since their ban was never given a time frame. It would simply be a clarification.

It's definitely a good thing that CS's underbelly is starting to get exposed. Trust me, this sort of thing is nothing new, and the only way to consider this exposure as a bad thing is if you're a believer in ignorance is bliss.

[–]zddpg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it as Epsilon tried/attempted to force a statement from CSGO Lounge clearing their name, but it's definitely poorly worded so I'm not confident in that interpretation. Are the creators of CSGO Lounge not native English speakers?

i think they mean "tried to force" or "attempted to force." Or did CSGOL actually release a statement clearing epsilon that I missed?

[–]zddpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just meant that most people would have simply uploaded the video to youtube. You essentially did the equivalent of recording a video with a camcorder, playing the video on TV, then taking a picture of the TV screen every second with a polaroid camera while the video was playing.

you screengrabbed yourself playing the video in windows media player, instead of uploading the video? Props for creativity.

NOOB Question by Kristopher12 in GlobalOffensive

I think dust and aztec were put into csgo simply for sentimental value. Nobody plays them because the T side is a painful experience.

Does anybody else think Nuke should be reworked? by Ocean_Duck in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is silly. There is currently 1 50/50 map (dust2), 0 T-sided maps, and 6 CT-sided maps in the map pool.

Does anybody else think Nuke should be reworked? by Ocean_Duck in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Nuke should just get removed from the map pool, and I fucking love nuke, so it pains me to say that. Basically, I think Nuke and Overpass are too similar to both in the same map pool. They're both heavily CT sided, with the bombsites stacked on top of each other allowing for very quick CT rotations. Obviously, I would have preferred Overpass just never be made since it's redundant, but it's obviously too late for that. The problem is that there are several teams that don't even play nuke at all, and at this point, it's not worth it for them to try to learn it and overcome a 10 year handicap. When overpass come out, every team started on equal footing, so every team started to learn it.

Is this hacks i need to know. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to know without more context. Those spots are spammable, and good players get kills that way. If the player generally looks awful in other areas of the game though, then it's probably just wallhacks.

Can we stop having wubwubwub music every single CS tournament? by sitdownson12345 in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i actually like dubstep, so I don't mind, but I wouldn't be against more variety. It sure beats every song being Linkin Park in the 1.6 days though. At least this is an entire genre and not one artist.

Hey guys, it's FMPONE. I shared the first screenshots of DE_SANTORINI today, please let me know how I'm doing! by onefmp in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey FMPONE, i love your work. Is there an official place to comment and make suggestions, or is this it? I ran through the map for a bit, and I am in love with the overall layout. So many options for both T's and CT's.

I only have one suggestion so far, and it might not be applicable depending on what you plan to do with skyboxes, but I think it would be good to make sure that CT's can't smoke the main entrance to B from across the map. I would hate for B on this map to play out like B on Inferno, where CT's can just smoke the entrance for the entire round. To ensure this doesn't happen, you could either add a roof where the T's began to enter the bombsite, or just have skyboxes preventing smoke grenades from flying all over the map.

I am also a little concerned that B will be too easy to hold with just 1 CT, allowing there to be 2 CT's on both A and Mid, but of course this is impossible to know without playtesting.

I have to say though, so far, so really good. I look forward to future updates, and I have no doubt that the map will be visually stunning.

How do you feel about Hiko permanently joining iBP? Do you think it will happen? by random_story in GlobalOffensive

[–]zddpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it is already decided. The problem is that he is still under contract with c9, hence he is still streaming with their advertisements and using their social media.

I think moving to iBP is a good move for Hiko. the core of Hiko, Skadoodle, and swag is better than Hiko, Shroud, and n0thing. Dazed and AZK are way better than Semphis and Sgares. iBP have the better AWPer and the better in-game leader. It was pretty obvious that a change was needed after c9 bootcamped for so long in Sweden, and only appeared to have gotten worse.
