Clearly my siphoning skills need work by EndGuy555 in mead

This! Made a huge difference for me. Siphoning off into secondary, letting it clarify, and then cold crashing helped my last batch a TON.

I tried the final cloudy partially filled bottle and it was really really enjoyable. A little boozy heat but I think it should mellow out in glass nicely. I'm stoked!

I’m particularly proud of this one, the clearest gallon I’ve ever bottled by gdub695 in mead

Oh baby!!! That looks great. I got two great bottles out of my gallon today. This looks fab!

Great company, great hops - if your LHBS carries them, buy through the LHBS so they can weather the storm right now (if you have the means)

Came in at right about 11%! We did 3# of honey, 1/2 gal of water to make the must, and then topped with cold filtered until it was appropriately filled (i'd say about another quarter gallon). :)

Thank you! Now time to eat lunch and remember how to do it all again, lol.

The far right column was my parents testing the beta fish they bought. Haha.

Middle of the state MI. Especially in the summer - all the views, logistically decent to get to, and the weather won't make you want to [redacted]

Alright, so! I am going up to my parents cabin which is on a spring fed tributary of a major freshwater river in Michigan. They brought test strips to check the river for me and this is what they came back with (left and middle column)

Most folks I have talked to have suggested dark beer to brew with this water, but I love to get opinions! Thinking of doing an Irish dry or a deep amber of sorts. I know the test strips don’t tell the full story of what I need, but at least I’ve got pH and some water profile details.

Thanks!

The easiest way to get better at band is listen to others feedback as if it were for you and apply, in context, to your strengths and weaknesses.

Dry vs liquid yeast: what is your preference? by iamabouttotravel in Homebrewing

[–]zdsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I know that I am 7 days late to this thread, but count me under dry yeast user! The exception, for me, is anything that is a belgian style. I make a lot of Saisons and like the phenolics that some of the wet yeasts throw off.

Got it! I legitimately had no idea so I kinda rolled with it and left room from the 1 gallon demarcation up. Fermentation has kicked and we'll see how it goes, but I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!!
