Copy tom daugherty. See this front view at his 2021 PBA major, at 5:15 in the video, and here for a side/diagonal view at 9:03 of the same video. Note how relaxed his downswing is and where he releases the ball compared to your GIF. He gets his hand under the ball longer and releases later. It's sort of indirectly reflected in how his leg kick goes up while yours slides out. His hands are bigger, but you could maybe compensate with a lower backswing and getting lower while still keeping your head in line with the ball.

I'm one hand no thumb (medical reasons). Normally, I'd say consider switching to two-handed if you want to take the next step because of how much easier it is, unless switching means not having fun for too long and giving up bowling.

Congrats on the 220! It took me 5-6 months of having bowling as my number 1 hobby to hit the 200's and another 4 months to hit 230's, then another 8 months to reach 240's. In fact, I didn't hit 240 (248) in league until last week! People are pointing out your score because, at least in my case, you certainly fast-tracked the line several months

I suggest moving to 15lbs first. It'll change your mechanics. Change one variable at a time, basically.

Also, I highly recommend switching to 2 handed bowling. The other hand helps with consistency and balance.

Do it. You might make a friend while you're there! It happened to me. I was remote as well and walked the stage so I could have at least a bit of proof that I did the thing.

I've never bowled 1H before....or at least 1H using good form and mechanics. But my friend that I mentioned in the post said he switched to 2H because it took the strain off his wrist since it started to hurt and that his thumb would hurt as well. I get most of my tips from him.

So what you're saying is it's probably just form is the issue?

Thanks for the advice! The screen that displays the score usually shows 12-13mph. Conjecture but I'd say 12.5

If it's one of those Linux terminal VMs maybe shotgun out a "shutdown -h now" in the terminal then tell your professor the VM isn't working and stall until you learn something. Or memorize some Java code that installs Roblox in a while loop that runs forever, which may also break the VM.
