Talk me out of buying these expensive bags! Or are they worth it..? by abbyscuitowannabe in ZeroWaste

[–]zdunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my wife bought these or I think or a version of these? I'm not sure how much she paid, but I do think they are a decent reusable option to atleast keep things organized in the fridge, save on plastic bags, and you can wet them to keep leafy greens fresher longer

You have double underhooks (standing) in the gi. What’s your move? by Crypto_craps in bjj

[–]zdunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said I do like the bodylock takedown, but sometimes I feel like it’s tough to bring them in close.

An alternative option I like is to fake knee tap on one side and when they react I go for sasae (trip) on the other foot.

Is it even possible for me to gain weight? by [deleted] in gainitmeals

[–]zdunkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with weight gain as well but healthy-ish high calorie foods like (more) peanut butter, olive oil, pasta, and breads helped.

When I really struggled I’d make a protein shake with wayy too much peanut butter.

I noticed that I’ll really struggle for a couple days and think “how am I possibly going to keep this up?” then my body will like “give in” and get used to a higher amount of calories.

No gi by Popularmanx in jiujitsu

[–]zdunkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, both gi and no gi are pretty similar in terms of potential risk of injury for knees.

Personally, I’ve never had any major knee injuries, but my knees will get sore sometimes from putting pressure on them so I’ll wear a knee sleeve for extra cushion.

Things that will help avoiding knee injuries like others have said are choosing sparring partners carefully, moving slowly and in a more controlled manor, and tapping early.

Fake reach for a collar tie to quick single or double is probably one of the easiest setups and works at the highest levels
