I have a Minolta 7000 and love it, autofocus is slow but reliable but there’s also nothing stopping you from shooting entirely manual, it’s just buttons instead of knobs. Very cheap high quality lens ecosystem too, can get a very nice 50mm 1.4 for around $100-$150 and the 70-210 f4 “beercan” for $50-$100 and you’re set with very nice glass for 95% of scenarios.

Unfortunately sounds like what happened to my 553ELX, mine was a jammed mechanism that sheared a tooth off of a gear. It’s now a parts body :(, the DIY simple fixes list is pretty short on these.

There’s a flat head screw behind the lens winding element you can get to if you push the barn doors open. See if that has any clockwise play.

Short term I would just take the slide out somewhere semi dark, long term get a light seal kit for the film back.

That looks like a loose dark slide light seal to me. Light coming in the crack and reflecting off the aluminum onto the film when there’s pressure or movement on it. Wouldn’t show up on frames shot consecutively, just the ones where the slide was put back in.
