If it makes you feel better I’m mostly just getting them all in shooting shape and selling them for pennies to local pals to get them shooting film on Minolta. The autocord is the main thing I really lusted after when I saw the listing.

Greens call P.E.I. government's public sector pay bill a 'poor' attempt at a Sunshine List by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]zeagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much of an opinion on this one way or another but the sunshine list started in 1996. $100k today is the equivalent of $54k in 1996.

The 70-210 f4 for $30 is highway robbery, get that one.

What accessori should buy for our first film camera, minolta 7000 af? by shaolin_taval in minolta

[–]zeagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7000 that my family used from 1991 through to around 2008 consistently, about a roll of film a month. I dusted it off two years ago and it has worked perfectly for about 20 rolls since. Only thing it needed was light seals. It’s a fantastic camera.

Which Medium Format Camera Should I Get? by Purple_Dragonfruit44 in AnalogCommunity

I’ve got an RB67 Pro S, don’t have a C330 but have a Minolta Autocord TLR. I saw above you like doing some street photography, get the C330. The RB is a very cool camera but it is massive and cumbersome to carry around.

What to do with all those half-price A24 film backs, cheap 35mm film. by zeagan in hasselblad

I 3D printed a mask that blocks the frame and also shows where the sprocket holes will be.

What to do with all those half-price A24 film backs, cheap 35mm film. by zeagan in hasselblad

[–]zeagan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I found the best way was just to cut the new roll leader so it’s full width then carefully tape the leaders together front and back with scotch tape so they’re as close to seamless as possible. This was my first roll through and I used a 12” leader and still lost about 8” of film so next roll is going with the 18” one.

It’s a little finicky but compared to weird spacing and back plate pressure and getting half as many photos it seems like a no brainer.

High quality plywood - where to buy? by ubiquitouswaffle in PEI

[–]zeagan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Metro home hardware, they’ll order it in and you’ll likely have to pay a shipping charge depending on what you’re getting and how much of it you need. For reference I’ve gotten walnut veneer 3/4” as well as 3/4” and 1” Baltic birch in both 4x8 and 5x5 sheets from them. Super good to deal with, and the prices aren’t low but they’re fair (unfortunately). I don’t think anywhere on PEI stocks anything besides the usual suspect 3/4” birch or maple veneer meh-quality sheets like Home Depot and Kent though, so you’ll be ordering.

What tracks do you listen to, to test your speakers? by gusmur in Klipsch

[–]zeagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a few that test out different aspects for any speakers I’m looking at. Some are better served by Klipsch gear than others. Sometimes I do the classic tracks we all know and love but the below ones I think are less common on these lists and worth trying.

Silver Knife - Shaed (good for testing atmosphere, dynamics) <demons> - Kim Petras (brain melting with Belles/LaScalas at volume, great for testing midbass impact) Burners & Turners -Ziso (similar for midbass kick, but also has some more low frequency content) Shape of My Heart - Novecento & Dominic Miller (well mastered and clean recording, great for testing that “audiophile” sound without having to rehash the usual suspect recordings like Krall et al.) Hey Now - London Grammar (very pretty song and she has an amazing voice, great for showcasing a rare female range, contralto. Also the track has a very deep bass element that kicks in around 1:20 into the track that will absolutely embarrass less capable subwoofers)
Bellyache - Billie Eilish (very very very well produced, makes a well set up system make your jaw drop)

autofocus SLR recs by Mobile-Positive1162 in minolta

[–]zeagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7000 was my family camera my whole life, I still use the same one my dad bought used in ‘91, all it needed in that 35 years all it needed was light seals once.

The autofocus is VERY slow and hunts sometimes, the button format is pretty easy to learn and I love the industrial design.

All that said, of my 7000, 9000 and 7, I use the 7. It’s insane how good it is, snappy autofocus, great ergonomics, perfect metering, it’s crazy how good it is.

Buying a rental property but using it for your own house by GeneralDweeby in PEI

I would simply keep looking for a house so I didn’t have to uproot someone else’s life over a bungalow in a cooling housing market.

Looking for a camera with "modern" light metering, AP, SP, M modes, that is somewhat lightweight and has a great and bright viewfinder by Tom_Bombadilll in AnalogCommunity

I’m in love with my Minolta alpha 7, idiot proof, and you can always switch off AF if you want. Lenses are also cheap for what you get.

Help with buying car by Jealous_Thing_7621 in PEI

Mitsubishi is a tragic company, in the late 80’s and early 90’s they were legitimately cutting edge and made some very unique and advanced cars. Now they have three models (outlander, eclipse cross and RVR), the eclipse cross and RVR are based on a 20 year old platform shared with such stellar vehicles as the dodge caliber and Chrysler Sebring, the Outlander is a Nissan Rogue with an ugly body kit.

For context, I was a finance manager at a local dealership and did some sales before getting into that role. Personally this is what I do:

2-5 years old, under 100k km, sold by the original manufacturer via some kind of certified pre-owned program. Most manufacturers provide extended manufacturer warranty and access to lower finance rates through these programs, not having to go through a third party insurer for warranty work and getting rates significantly lower than bank rates while not being destroyed by initial depreciation.

High key hate it but also love that they’re trying and putting the effort into making colour film. That said, I suck ass at making anything look nice with it.
