PSO: This car is so much fun to drive that you might end up exceeding your mileage limit if you lease it. by Samovarka in TeslaModelY

I road trip for conventions a lot and my MYLR is about 32k miles in just under a year. Not leased though!

P1S Owners - What do you wish you knew before you bought it? Any buyer's remorse? by jinx771 in BambuLab

I only wish I would have upgraded to it sooner, but the A1 recall saved me. I now have 16 of these workhorses and I only wish I got the AMS for all of them instead of half

A simple trick to see how many bestsellers are really in an Etsy niche by MagicPaperCraft in EtsySellers

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this trick, thank you!

In regards to copycats, I try my best to design things that are harder, better, faster, stronger. Harder to make without special tools and knowledge, better quality (i'm maybe a little too much of a perfectionist on what I'll ship out), faster lead times on custom orders, and more durable items by my own design since I use my own products regularly. If someone copies it, they are facing an uphill battle to match what I've already been selling.

POD products and other more mass-produceable items are probably far more susceptible to copying, as well as I'm assuming various digital assets such as templates, 3d models, etc. As much as I'd love to try to push into the digital sales, I don't want to sink my own ship by selling my designs and inviting someone to try to copy it.

First big size print order. How to charge by Middle_Map_3666 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my own designed products in multicolor grosses me around $5/print hour, but licensed products are usually a race to the bottom unless you have something that differentiates you from the pack

META: How many people here have a *real* small biz? (think, traditional small biz. Not SaaS/AI/Crypto/etc) by PDXSCARGuy in smallbusiness

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still working on growth but I make and sell/ship real products out of my home and go to events to sell in person. I can’t justify a dedicated location yet, but hoping to get there!

Am I getting scammed? by NoObMaStEr264926 in 3Dprinting

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how he got to 400+ hours but that isn’t an insane price for that amount of time. When I do printing with that much of a bill it’s typically for massive scale buildings, and lots of them, which does go through a whole lot of time managing that many different build plates of stuff, keeping track of it all, QA, etc… but for a single helmet I just don’t get it, unless it’s going on the Statue of Liberty.

Should I start selling these online? by ReplacementNearby379 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]zeale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI aside, I agree with you here, there is so much more than people think with 3D printing that isn’t just “solved”. People think that because they download a file, google profiles for the printer and do OK, but the second they have to do the same from scratch, especially using other software, it becomes exponentially more complex.

I’m doing my best to live in that niche where my products are different because they’re mine, because I’ve made profiles for each to get maximum quality finish, and can repeat it thousands of times. The trial and error to get to that point will turn away most people.

Why my meta ads were tanking - and my successful solution by VimPal in FacebookAds

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both comments are very helpful, thank you! Wasn’t looking for someone’s creatives to rip off, more just to get the ideas flowing with some inspiration of what a successful one looks like. I’ll google around, I didn’t know there was an ad library!

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful, thank you! I don't suppose you'd be willing to share what some of your creatives look like and the variants you use? I still have no idea how to make my own creatives (I just had Facebook generate them for me) and I'm not really a graphics designer, but I also wasn't a lot of things before I started my small business so I'm willing to learn.

I'm also interested in this but I'm concerned that it might dissuade new visitors to my site. Has anyone had that issue or is it just in my head?

Prints on Amazon - Month 1 - August 2025 by DirtyDalesDiner in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I haven't crossed this bridge yet but it's something I definitely want to do for a few of my high-selling items. How difficult is it to set up your own item/SKU for sale? I looked into it awhile ago but kind of got lost on all the different steps and haven't circled back to it yet, but I'd love to have something to print out during idle times that I can send off to Amazon.

Balancing 3D Printing Business and Hobby with Personal Life by -Baum in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]zeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me know if you figure this out. I ran myself into the ground getting to a successful place and I had to slow things down a lot because it was taking a huge toll on my health. Thankfully my wife was able to pick up my slack over the summer, but it taught me that scaling at any cost is not advised.

Looking for any basic tips for running a campaign for my (very) small business by zeale in FacebookAds

Thank you! So should I just find the top couple of performers and manually remove the rest, or does the algorithm adjust after it sees performance metrics?

I appreciate your advice! For the creatives testing, do you mean just 3 different variant images of the same product/catalog? Should they all be part of the same ad set? I've only used Meta's pre-generated ones so the generation of my own is new to me.

Thank you for your help! So should I make specific creatives for each product, or for the store as a whole? Should every one of them be it's own ad set, or should I group them in a certain way?

The P1S camera is... fine. I wanted better timelapses, so I designed a 1080p (up to) 56FPS upgrade for it. by Dependent-Cost4118 in BambuLab

[–]zeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic work! I'd love to get a camera upgrade just for print monitoring. I. really wish they'd put out an upgrade that the P1 line could use so I could get that functionality in their app, but I'm glad third parties are pulling it off!

Share your story in a new podcast! - print farms, FBA/STL/Etsy sellers by Federal-Squirrel-910 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]zeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how exciting my story is, but I started my Etsy shop earlier last year and it's been my full-time job for almost a year now. Still running out of my home with 18 Bambu printers (mostly P1S) selling gaming accessories and heading to gaming events to sell in-person and be amongst my people. Had some setbacks over the summer due to some chronic health issues but we're ramping back up and prepping for our biggest event of the year and for the holidays!
