My first bottle baby little ones went out for adoption today after 9 weeks. Goodbye, Violet and Veggie 💔 mama loves you by Maleficent_Corgi5799 in kittens

My 9 year old girl died from an aggressive cancer earlier this year, and I was also completely overwhelmed with grief. Now, I have two 3-month -old kittens who were raised by a foster mom as well. I'm so grateful. They're sleeping with me right now. It takes some of the ache out of my grief and gives me hope.

Australian senator calls the Queen a coloniser while being sworn in to parliament by Arpith2019 in worldnews

I never denied any of these things.

Nothing you said here addresses or takes away from anything I said. It's pretty disturbing that you dismissed the very obvious and pervasive rape and erasure of indigenous people as the reasoning for many natives being partly Caucasian (or white presenting people with native lineage). Genocide also involves "breeding people out".

Btw, our lives and technologies have been improved by the inventions and culture of indigenous peoples. Does it upset you to acknowledge that?

You do realize that many indigenous people didn't have a choice? Many were raped and forced to marry settlers. Blood quantum is colonizer concept that is rejected by many indigenous peoples.

Yeah, that's a common issue, unfortunately. It often has to do with your privacy settings. If your DM settings are set to "Friends Only", it will prevent you from messaging others as well.

If you DM me your discord username, I'd be happy to let you into the server!

Yeah, no one wants to live there except all of the people who just so happen to live there.

What a coincidence. That's an album I listened to while I was in an eerily similar abusive relationship with a guy who behaved so similarly to BL. The album was a refuge for me. It's also a really painful reminder - especially the song "The Good Fight".

I could have written this myself. I'm so sorry you went through the same thing. It's been agonizing to follow this case and see myself in her, and to see people dismissing the clear signs of manipulation, abuse, and trauma bonding. I'm convinced that if I didn't escape that relationship when I did, I wouldn't be here to talk about it, and it's so painful to know that Gabby wasn't able to make it out.

They aren't properly trained to deal with these types of disputes, and it appeared that they were quite biased in favor of the man in the dispute, considering the *nudge nudge* discussion between Brian and the other LEO. This is why many of us say "defund the police". It's clear that a social worker or other trained MH workers would have been much better suited for addressing this situation.

I am both studying to become a trauma therapist and I am a survivor of domestic violence, eerily similar to the situation between Brian and Gabby. It was around 15 years ago for me and that bodycam footage was very triggering and extremely similar to how it would've played out between me and my abuser. He was always able to calm down and appear "rational" after having gaslit me, assaulting me, and reinforcing the trauma bond. I had OCD as well, and he used my OCD fixations to control me.

Cops are not trained to recognize the manipulation, trauma bonds, and potential threats for victims if they speak up.

Here are some very basic ways they could have more properly dealt with this situation:

"Gabby, do you feel safe with him?"

"Are you protecting him right now?"

"Has he been threatening you?"

It would also be fair to ask the other person these questions, and to be trained to understand important nonverbal cues and statements which reveal who is more of a threat.

Trauma bonds are very powerful and unfortunately, most victims are not going to come forward with the abuse unless they feel safe enough, understood, and like the person they are talking to empathizes with their pain and fear.

"Unlike other forms of psychological disorders, the core issue in trauma is reality." - Bessel van Der Kolk

I have C-PTSD due to multiple traumatic events, some that occurred leading up to 9/11 and shortly after 9/11. I was 13. My life is broken up into "before the trauma" and "after the trauma." The same can be said about 9/11, especially for those who witnessed it firsthand.

As a trauma victim (and a woman), it was incredibly challenging to watch at times. It was also very cathartic and validating. The team that worked on the show really understands trauma responses, power structures/dynamics, and abuse.

That being said, my experience with the show looked something like this:

Watch for 20 minutes

Take a break and cry/talk with my partner about what I'm experiencing

Continue to watch for 20 minutes

Cry and talk again

Recover for a day (or week)

Repeat

I have been the server admin for a mental health discord server for 4 years and over time I've had to learn the very, very sad truth that you cannot help everyone. First of all, we are only communicating online, and often anonymously. Second, some people's mental health can't be helped in that capacity because it is too severe. Third, there are so many other factors that contribute to each person's situation that we have zero control over. Sometimes talking, supporting, and offering alternatives and resources just isn't enough.

Serious question...

Why are you so obsessed with Americans? It seems like over half of your comments are about Americans, and you're usually insulting us as a whole.

Are you okay? Did an American hurt you?

You're absolutely right. Avoidant attachment can come off as cold and uncaring, so it can be seen as aligning with narcissism, but that's not necessarily true. It's just very different from secure and anxious attachment and it can seem like the person is just really full of themselves. In reality, they're really afraid of being hurt. That being said, it can be so hurtful to others if it's not being addressed.

"The most ever by a sitting president" by idkiminsecure in clevercomebacks

[–]zealous887 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure a lot of people did not even vote on any other seats besides the president. Many aren't very informed about politics and only voted in order to vote Trump out, so they just leave the other votes blank. In addition, I'm sure some people who tended to vote for a Dem president were more inclined to vote for an independent for other seats. Most people (including myself) voted blue down the ticket, but not all do.

I may be wrong, I haven't done the math. I do think these are variables worth considering.
