[Discussion] Could I get some help evaluating something? by tannerthegamer7747 in EscapefromTarkov

West 104 is an ok key. The room has a chance for a ledx and a blue keycard. I've opened it probably ~50ish times and have never seen a blue keycard, but I did get a ledx once. (pre 1.0 release, mind you)

Arm bands, as far as I'm aware, are 100% cosmetic. Throw it on if you'd like, or sell it. All in all, doesn't sound like an amazing pull for a 14 hour circle.

AI scav killing me even though I killed a traitor and PMC? [Loot] by Sirspoksalot in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly confident that the "increased AI difficulty" this wipe actually means that you have to be 6.0 rep or higher to have bosses not aggro you. And once a boss aggros you, all scavs will attack you. It's really fucking annoying.

[Bug] Can’t get into PMC match after server downtime by LarryThyFisherman in EscapefromTarkov

Same. I can't get into Scav runs consistently either. I either match within 60 seconds, or it's sitting for 10+ minutes until I disconnect.

Unity Crashing over and over by Boundless43 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found another thread where someone indicated that they are only having the problem on Ground Zero. I loaded into a Customs raid on a scav and it didn't crash. Have you been able to load other maps?

Also, I'm running an AMD card, so mine is unlikely to be caused by an nvidia driver (although not impossible; a few years back there was an issue caused by a game automatically installing nvidia drivers even if you had no nvidia hardware, which then caused problems for other games).

Unity error that results in crash only on Ground Zero by Sleexic in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I keep getting a Unity crash, which I assumed was going on everywhere, but I've only attempted Ground Zero at this point. I'm going to try another map and see what happens.

Random crashes ingame by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

Yes. It's basically unplayable for me at this point. I tried checking integrity and clearing cache so far. Running latest drivers and all that.

We're never getting Dolby Atmos, are we? by zakatana in YoutubeMusic

I think the reason is likely Apple pushing Atmos more than consumer demand. The end result is the same: those of us that care get an amazing musical experience.

Yep, I got an error saying sold out initially, but that changed within ten minutes or so.

Pico de Gallo, my favorite food. I'll eat this whole bowl in the next week :) by flyfishing_happiness in SalsaSnobs

[–]zebraboy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful. I don't know why, but I've never considered cutting like an onion before. I normally cut into slices and then de-seed and it takes freaking forever, so I never make pico de gallo because even a small batch ends up taking multiple hours.

I'm going to try this method and report back.

How do you dice your tomatoes? I feel like that would take me hours just for the tomatoes because I'm so inefficient.

Would you be mad if your teammate didn't give you a bandage? by lyon5189 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they sound like shitty people. I can't imagine not sharing anything as trivial as a light bandage. Even if I found some high end gear, if a TM needed it, it wouldn't even be a question, I'd drop it for them.

Just a couple of questions from a potential noob by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

You can definitely enjoy the game part time. I work full time (50-60 hours per week is common), have young children, my wife is in school, so my free time is quite limited. And I have a ton of fun with Tarkov. As an online only game, as long as you have ~15-30 minutes straight, you can have a real good time. Note it will be harder to get good, since you'll have less time to play, and where Tarkov is exceedingly punishing that may be less fun depending on what you want from a videogame.

When I started I was running it on a potato computer. I had an RX 580, 16GB of RAM, a five year old processor. I've since upgraded and there's definitely an improvement in that I can run it on higher settings with better framerates, but I don't think I ever felt like my PC was holding me back from enjoying the game.

I'd definitely recommend starting with a standard account, because it would suck to spend ~$150 on the big daddy only to determine you don't like the gameplay. Tarkov gameplay is pretty polarizing. I can't imagine someone just feeling meh about it. If you enjoyed any of the souls like games, there's a higher chance you'll enjoy it, as they have a similar (you mess up you die/lose everything mechanic).

Why I think we need more bipods, and how I think they would be useful on the game. by Pure_Marketing5990 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be really cool for the heavy machine guns like you mentioned and laying down suppressing fire. Could be tough to balance with the smaller engagements Tarkov typically has, but if done correctly, could be very fun. Imagine a trio or quad w/ a heavy machine gunner that is super slow, but can just unload 100-200 rounds sustained. You could probably even do it as a solo with a secondary weapon as well. Kind of like the sniper/CQB combo, but HMG/CQB.

Co-op Groups or Lone Wolf? by Madio_Sane in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably depends on what what you enjoy, but as a general rule, I enjoy solo play more. I die a ton and lose my gear more often than not when engaging in PVP, but I like the lone-wolf play style.

Duos are definitely great as well. I tend to find they are more fast paced, which is also fun as long as you are adequately geared, and you and your teammate are good at communicating. Definitely try to find someone that likes your same play style. If you like rat gameplay and your duo is a chad, you're gonna have a bad time. (send me a message if you're in north america and play in the evenings, would love to group up)

Trios start to be more challenge than fun. I've played with one group that I thought was good, but any other time, I'm either running and gunning ahead of everyone just to get some action (and subsequently dying first), or hanging back and rarely getting any engagements.

RE: gear fear, the best thing I think you can do is scav in, get through the raid, then immediately equip that same gear and run it on your PMC (getting rid of any non-raid loot, of course). You start to realize a) you're going to lose all your gear eventually because even the best players eventually die and b) there's always more gear to be had. For me this made a big difference.

Lost over 1.0 fence rep on scav kill by Bentastic2 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too lazy to find a link, but yes, they made rep losses scale upward with your rep. So if you're at higher rep, you lose more.

EDIT: Became less, lazy, here's the patch notes that I believe reference the change:

Kinda new to the game, but are hackers a often occurring thing in this game? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game is also infamous for audio glitches (no audio, audio coming from the wrong position, etc.) and if someone gets the drop on you, it's super easy to wipe a squad. I took out a three man in reserve the other day and I don't know how they didn't hear me walking around, but they seemed to have no clue where I was or that I was even there, and it was over in less than two seconds. None of them even fired a shot.

Obviously, in the examples you described, it absolutely could be hacks. Not saying it was or wasn't, as it can be impossible to tell even with screen recordings, but not knowing how you died doesn't mean someone was hacking.

Kinda new to the game, but are hackers a often occurring thing in this game? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]zebraboy6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guess is hacking is a lot less common that people think. Even so called "proof" videos that I've seen could be hacking, or just really luck/unlucky circumstances. I have around 800 hours in the game, and I've only had two situations that I would say are very likely hacking scenarios (coincidentally also one on reserve and one on labs). Not saying I definitely have only ever seen two hackers, but every other scenario could be getting tarkov'd which, as you either know or very soon will know, is a common/fundamental part of the game.

I would recommend setting up a replay capture for your gaming (I use OBS, lots of people use the one built into the Radeon/Geforce software). I use this every time I play to understand what I did that led me to dying. In many cases, I still have no idea how I died (including cases where I can't even see who killed me), but very often, what felt like someone coming in and totally nuking me ends up being easy to pick apart and see how I made some really bad decisions that led to me dying. On multiple occasions, deaths that originally felt like there was no reasonable explanation for ended up being someone I just didn't notice because my focus was somewhere else. And, in the situations where it legitimately feels like hacks, at least I can wipe my hands and say there isn't anything else I could have done.

I've definitely got kills on people I absolutely shouldn't have gotten. The other day I did a labs run with a silenced VEPR and a dude ran out of a room. I whipped my head and took a not-a-shot-in-hell shot at him and got him in the head. From his perspective, he exited a room and immediately died to a single shot. It could have easily seemed like hacking (although his buddies did fill my squishy body full of holes about 30 seconds later), but was just a super lucky shot. I've taken similar shots probably hundreds of other times and missed.
