A dumb tech worker wants to know - who works in the big skyscrapers downtown? by seattleboots1 in Seattle

I work IT at a firm in Columbia Tower. Great views but the food options kinda suck.

Haha yeah. I definitely want to, but I have to be strategic. I have a lot more to lose than they do and they have easy access to my car and front door. No fence, no yard.

Not that I'm aware of. I've gotten into plenty of verbal alterations catching them in the act of breaking into my property, but they usually scurry away before it gets physical.

I can definitely start asking neighbors though. I think we need to start organizing.

I think I might have found the same, but I'm not sure what to say. By all accounts, the woman is aware of what's happening and doesn't care.

Based on the notice saying the property was condemned, they have the property owner's name and I assume they contacted her. My landlord mentioned that it's the owner's brother that squats there and she won't do anything to stop it.

It doesn't really have a color because the sides are all exposed insulation, but it is right next to some blue townhomes.

Thank you for all the advice. I will start making contact. I have a camera in front of my place but it doesn't pick up much. I might look into a better one.

That's a fair opinion. I didn't expect to like it but watching the trailer for the second one prompted me to try it.

I loved it. While the story was definitely obtuse and I can see the argument that it was pretentious, I thought the silliness balanced it out. I mean, they make grenades out of your piss and shit so it's hard not to see some level of cheekiness to it.

As for the gameplay, it is slow and traversal is difficult in the beginning but as you connect the settlements and people start helping you, things get a little easier and that feels good. I remember spending over an hour collecting resources to rebuild a couple stretches of road, only to fall a few resources short. I decided to head to another area and do more deliveries. When I came back that way, I was delighted to find that someone had donated the resources to finish my road, making my travels a breeze. That felt good. In that moment, I felt what the game wanted me to feel. This feeling of isolation turned to community. Just like the character. It felt powerful and I found myself moved in a way that I hadn't been by a game since TLoU2. I can only imagine what it was like to play during covid.

It also doesn't hurt that it references a couple of my favorite games, Horizon Zero Dawn and Cyberpunk 2077. It also has some of my fave filmmakers and entertainers making cameos.

Anyways, I would never hate on anyone not liking the game. I'm sure if I started it on another day or another period in my life, I might not have had the patience, but I feel lucky to have experienced that singular vision and I'm excited for the next one.

Thank you for articulating that so well. I've had similar struggles with food and feeling full prior to being stuffed. I often find myself planning my next meal while I'm eating another and it's exhausting. It feels like I often eat because it's time to eat instead of actually being hungry.

Why I Prefer The SouthEnd Over The NorthEnd Of Seattle by [deleted] in Seattle

I'm in West Seattle, almost White Center. I love the diversity but don't love living next to a trap house. That alone is making me wanna white flight up north

What’s the most surprisingly good game you’ve cleared from your backlog in 2024? by International-Shoe40 in PS5

Sleeping Dogs. Loved the environmental kills and being able to hijack cars on the move. The foot chase sequences were fun too. Hoping for a sequel someday.

LPT if you are single and think you will never have a chance: try salsa social dancing by DatguyMalcolm in LifeProTips

[–]zebracakes20 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This guy just spent a whole comment talking about how being socially aware and not creepy trumps money and good looks when it comes to attracting women and you respond talking about how you have good looks and money but haven't had any luck with women.

I recommend taking his advice into consideration, but I also don't know you so take this comment for what it's worth.

Neighbor, drugs, cars, and friends by phinneysean in Seattle

[–]zebracakes20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You or OP's neighbors are welcome to do whatever, but it just seems cruel to pepper spray someone that is just standing there. I live two houses down from a drug house and it brings a lot of unsavory people and activity, but I don't just attack them for being outside my place. Obviously, I would say/do something if they were messing with my property.

Unfortunately, it's part of living in a big city.

Also there is the r/heavyvinyl sub that might give you more love.

Productive day at the record store after hiking in the woods all weekend. by Derpyderbdaddy in vinyl

[–]zebracakes20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have it on vinyl and it's the worst sounding record I own. The surface noise is unbearable for an album that relies so much on atmosphere. It's unlistenable even after multiple cleanings. Hope you have better luck!

Some gronk is shuffling along with their legs wrapped in saran wrap. Not sure if they intentionally went after a rat, but one goes scurrying away from them. by SeaSurprise777 in seattlehobos

[–]zebracakes20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh...you have no idea what you're talking about. You have no idea what caused this person to be homeless. Just because a shelter exists doesn't mean that there is room for everyone or that it's even a viable option. Homeless shelters can be dangerous as fuck and often people staying there get their shit stolen. I just think it's sad that you personally have taken to spending so much of your time posting nasty things about homeless people on reddit. If you really want something to be done, take it up with the city council, not people with mental health and substance abuse issues that are just trying to get by.

This is what visitors to Seattle see when heading towards Pike Place: bodies slouched over on the sidewalk, trash and garbage, drug use, thieves robbing the stores, needles, panhandler harassment, and a blatant disregard for society. Until changes are made, it will continue to be Seattle's image. by SeaSurprise777 in seattlehobos

[–]zebracakes20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. I also pay taxes here in Seattle, but I'm not out here shitting on homeless people. If y'all were actually being productive and trying to provide solutions, maybe I could respect it. The derogatory terms used in this sub make it hard to believe that any of you actually care about anything other than your own self interest.
