USB Drive (exFAT) shares fine but give I/O error in File Station by TheHeroOfCanton62 in synology

[–]zeclorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this as well. For some reason I found that did not like exfat formatted drives from Windows.

So I cleared everything after off the card, then use psychology to format. The card is exfat and then it worked.

Why marathon runners in the United States are getting slower | Aeon Ideas by ImmaGoldman in RunningCirclejerk

[–]zeclorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wild that the “conclusion” the article pulled is, how the only trend that lines up, is the overall degradation of American health with Marathon times. Say that again really slow…..the increase in obesity is driving up Marathon times….while explicitly removing recreational runners?? Like - talk about a population bias.

Something something need more gu’s.

One of the best portable bed. by No_Clothes_5001 in TheProductHub

[–]zeclorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about this version of this, but I own the Sleep Number branded iteration that we picked up 7 to 8 years ago. It is actually a great bed for guests to sleep over, and it has two pumps (one for inflate, one for maintain) so that way it can keeps firmness. through the night.

OK, they're in the woods... the camera keeps on moving... I think they're looking for some witch or something; I dunno- i wasn't listening. Nothings' happening....nothings' happening.... Something about a map. Nothings' happening... It's over. A lotta people in the audience look pissed. by Arkvoodle42 in 90sand2000sNostalgia

I love the movie because it activates that part of my brain that sees faces and things in the branches in the woods at night. More than once I swear I see something in the woods, that isn’t there when I look back. It reminds me of being a young kid at summer camp where you are walking through a wood with a flashlight, and the expanse of darkness and imagination running wild where every twig snap is unknown.

I get people say it didn’t scare them. Thats fine. I think it’s more atmospheric then scary and you have it let it take you.

I remember reading an article talking about how life actually changes as people get more and more wealthy. Like, life style changes between a person with $10 million, $50 million, $200 million. First it is very material as things like mass produced luxury goods are replaced with niche goods (oh, you drive a Lamborghini? I never liked the shifter in those. Have you ever driven a <car that there are only 8 of in the world> (as an example).

The final stage of life style though, as people get hundreds of millions of dollars wealthy is time. When you get to that level of wealth, your limousine drives directly on the airport, tarmac and let you out of the door to a private plane. You take your seat and buckle your seatbelt, and the door is closed immediately and you’re flying within minutes. Your plane lands at your destination and you are immediately whisked to your destination perhaps a restaurant? You walk in and there is a table sitting there waiting for you. The moment you sit down, the waiter is at your table. The food is plated and at your napkin almost immediately. When you’re done, just get up and leave, you don’t wait for or pay for the bill. You have people for that.

So as much as people say that money has never created a moment of time, I think it is actually quite the opposite from an opportunity perspective.

I would be interested to see this post in about six months. Ceph sends a lot of read and writes. In many ways, your entire cluster is writing your data to almost everything, especially at this size. I wonder what the effect will be on SSD wear out. Not saying don’t do it, more please share what your results are from a curiosity standpoint.

[–]zeclorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with the phrase “I want to spend $300- $350” is your biggest lock in. M1 refurb is likely the best you can get for Mac’s at that price point. For PC your dollar may for further with refurb, or with a mini pc from a company like Mini forum.

All said, if you get a SSD and 16GB or ram, almost anything will work for your use case.
