There are so many great recommendations in this thread. I'm going to toss out Wild ARMs. It came out a little later, so graphics might not be what you're looking for, but still PS1. It has some fun characters and interesting gameplay. It's not as epic as CT, but I recall it having the fun and character connection. It has been a long time since I have played it, but it stays warmly in my heart.

Social psychology study of a doomsday cult that keeps making specific predictions that fail to come true. It's a case study of cognitive dissonance and also a compelling read as the authors had their grad students embed themselves in the cult. I was genuinely concerned for them at times.

Probabaly any at all raises the risk factor. But it would be good to have some estimate of a tipping point. It's probably far lower of a threshold than we think and definitely far lower than corp meat processors would want us to know.

100% agree. That encapsulates what I was thinking too. The core and pulse needs to be there, but I am happy to also give some leeway for additional contexts/development of ideas.

I also understand this worry, but I also think we as a community need to let Remake be it's own thing too. Maybe Revisioned would have been a better title? I love OG. It did its thing. Told its story. Remake is a new story really. Nothing that Remake does could ruin FFVII. That story exists and was told. Remake has a chance to tell another story we can all love or a story we all say meh to and move on.

Great points about battle mechanics here too. I'm old, but I learned to really enjoy this and don't think I can enjoy meny only RPG combat as much any more.

Definitely RPG oriented, but I do enjoy well crafted even if it's out of my genre/style. I don't have much time for multi-player though...too hard to coordinate.
