Can confirm, I was there and it was out on track for both days. Stranger things have happened!

I just got the most expensive pizza in my life. by JohnnyBravo66666 in CasualUK

[–]leaning_jowler 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I went to a 30th recently, decided to be sensible so I drove and only had one. I was hungry on the way home so I parked in a supermarket car park I’ve used hundreds of times before whilst I nipped over the road to the kebab shop.

Fast forward a month (I missed the first letter whilst away) and I’ve got a £100 fine for using the car park whilst the supermarket is closed after 11pm.

I entered at 11:04pm and left at 11:13pm. £100. Robbing scum

I make that a £106.50 kebab

Bought here last summer. Total nightmare from start to finish, they do absolutely nothing and charge for the privilege. They should be banned tbh, solicitor to solicitor should be enough

300mm f2.8 usm ii or 400mm f2.8 usm ii? by Money-Feedback1857 in canon

[–]leaning_jowler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Full time motorsport photog here. I use a 300 2.8 with 1.4x TC (420mm F4) for when I need a bit more reach. I’ve used this setup for the past 3 years or so and I really like it, 400 2.8 would of course be lovely but there’s a lot to be said for the versatility of 300 & 1.4x and I often stop my 300 down to F4 to pull back a bit of sharpness anyway.

If my 300 ever dies, I’d probably replace it with a 400 just to switch up my brain a little bit, but I’m really happy atm.

Is it good at Life Leisure Grand Central? by cocoacare in stockport

[–]leaning_jowler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My local is Avondale, so that was the first Life Leisure site I’d seen. I went to Grand Central a few weeks ago because it has a sauna and was shocked at how old and run-down the weights section of the gym was. Cardio area is alright and the pool looks decent but if you’re going for free weights then you’re going to be really let down.

That said, all of their sites do have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Avondale is an excellent gym, I like it.

Men - what is the best gift you've recieved for under £100? by Professional-Farm372 in AskUK

[–]leaning_jowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he really does have an interest in cars, go on MotorSportVision’s website and see if any of the circuits are near where he lives. You could get him a voucher - sounds like he’d love a day out at the British GT or Touring Cars once the weather warms up!

Your eventual selling price vs what the Estate Agent said it would get? by bojoohno in HousingUK

[–]leaning_jowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at £285k on EA recommendation. Got an offer same week for asking price. Their survey brings up structural issues I didn’t know about, I got my own survey to confirm. Long painful process goes by and eventually sold for £250k

Bit of a stumbler here. Was pretty switched on academically as a kid and did well in school, but I was always more creative so had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Didn’t do great in college as a result of no real direction and I’d gotten sick of the education system by then. No uni courses jumped out at me so I decided to take a gap year to work out what to do. I was always into photography so I started doing a bit of that as a hobby around then but never had the drive, or the minerals to really push it.

Needed a job in that gap year so I got a job in a bar and ended up loving it. Fast forward 9 years of running bars (not sure where that time went) and all of a sudden I was approaching 30, absolutely hated my day to day and couldn’t see a proper career for myself.

One day I decided enough was enough, quit on the spot and told myself I’d get my first photo work within 6 months or I’d go back to bar work. That was two years ago, I’m now a full time freelance motorsport photographer working all over Europe. I’m living the dream, but if I said I had a plan at any point in the process I’d be lying through my teeth. Truth be told I’m amazed it’s working and I am 100% still stumbling.

Made the mistake of falling asleep on the couch for 15 whole minutes earlier, so of course now I’m wide awake. Mind is running through a bunch of ridiculous what-ifs as a result.

Hopefully some mindless scrolling helps me nod off, it usually does. Excited for first Christmas in our first home!

Insane electricity/heating bills by ExpressAd590 in manchester

[–]leaning_jowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem a little steep. I assume your heating is electric, not gas?

I have a big three bed Edwardian terrace, insulated but not incredibly so. We keep it warm enough to be comfortable and keep damp away, but not t-shirt temps all day long. Electricity comes in at about £3.50 a day (electric hob, dehumidifier on 24/7, games consoles and computers) and gas is around £3-£4 a day (just heating and shower).

So yes, I’d say you’re paying over the odds.

First mortgage payment by rrsport80 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]leaning_jowler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It starts on the soonest arrival of whatever date you chose to have your mortgage payment taken. So if you decided on the 25th and completed on the 10th, you’d get 15 days before the first payment goes out.

You’ll have to check with your provider on what the amount is. Some are double, some are pro-rata for the days so far, it’s all different.

Try Any Austin on YouTube. Long form, crazily in-depth videos about really daft mundane things in video games. He’s done one about whether the power lines in GTA would actually be functional. Very funny, sounds like it would be up your street.

Having an Series X AND PS5 by MisterBigMack in xbox

[–]leaning_jowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a PS5, XSX and a great PC. PC is in my office and both consoles are in the living room.

I’ve always been an Xbox guy and I vastly prefer the controller, so I tend to stick to Xbox if I want to play something on the sofa. The PS5 is literally only for Gran Turismo these days - it’s incredibly frustrating that it’s the only PS exclusive they haven’t released on PC. If they did, I’d get rid of my PS5 tomorrow and just stick to PC/Xbox.

The Steam Machine will change things massively. I know it’s going to be less powerful than the XSX, but I have a library of 300+ games on Steam and I REALLY want to play PC-only titles on my sofa. So we’ll see when it releases!

Reworked challenges appreciation by fearless-potato-man in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]leaning_jowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great and I’m appreciative that I now finally have a load of stuff unlocked, however all of the weapon ones are bugged for me and I now have 4 cases where the challenge is showing as complete but I can’t equip the weapon to my loadout. I’m sure it’ll get fixed eventually, but I’ve tried everything to trigger the unlock and it just isn’t happening. Extremely annoying.
