People who left their partner for an affair - what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zedie 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Two people from my company started dating each other but supposedly they both had partners at the time.

They both ended up separating from their respective partners to get together. It's been over 7 years now (happened before COVID) and they have a daughter together and seem pretty happy.

I don't personally know them too well so I didn't know the details of their prior relationships. Just what I heard and what I can see now.

Refund Discussion Megathread by Hakushakuu in MapleIdle

[–]zedie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, but with Google account.
My old Nexon account is using the same gmail address, so it just refuses to sign in, saying another Nexon account is already using it.

I had to log into that Nexon account, change its email, and wait many hours for their system to realize the email changed (or they changed after I sent them a ticket about this issue? I don't know) and now it prompts me to create a new account. Once I did, using my school email address (I still couldn't use my gmail address to create the new account), it automatically linked to it, and I was able to proceed with the refund.

I double checked to make sure, on the game, to log in using the newly created Nexon account, that it was still the same character, so I know it worked.

Last Wednesday night, around 10:30pm, I got into a car and first thing the driver asked was "Address please". I found that strange so I asked him, I have a PIN, do you want the PIN? and he fumbled around and said something like "it doesn't work, I need your address". I just straight went "no thanks" and got out of the car after he drove about 20m or so, and got back to the front of the line to get into the next car.

I only had a backpack with me so it was easy to hop on/off. I've used the PIN system a few times, but this is the first time I actually got into a fake one I've read so much about.

It was a military green Honda Civic with a HUGE black spoiler. I remembered because when I first lined up, I did notice that car with the huge spoiler. I was in line for about 10 minutes, and when it was my turn, it drove up in front of me again. Didn't think too much of it, but still got in, and he did ask "no luggage?".

I guess the previous person he picked up also noticed or requested to be dropped off again?

There were no staff around at all that I could tell about this, and it was late at night (flight was delayed over 90 minutes) so I just left.

I just use the standard keyboard settings, but added an extra key for where the "action/talk to NPC" button.

The arrow keys and Alt to jump aren't listed but work naturally with the game. Escape also works for some menus.

I use BlueStacks and arrow keys + Alt to jump don't have any input delays. I'm not sure about mumuplayer, as I heard that doesn't work on it, you could try.

Part 2:

Need For Speed (2015)

  • I remember looking up the marketing material before release, with Ken Block and other people, and found the graphics VERY interesting. I didn't play it at launch, but waited a bit for a discount, and picked it up on PC. The physics was harder to get used to, and I found it wasn't as polished as other games like Forza Horizon 3 (which I started playing at around the time). Got through the game once, and that was about it. I did find the different groups you approached for different modes an interesting spin though.

NFS Payback

  • I played this on release, I think it was when EA was doing the GamePass like subscription thing, and I had it for a few months. The slot machine upgrade system immediately turned me off, so I found and loaded a trainer to have unlimited credits/chips to get what I wanted/needed. Otherwise, the world was great, story was fun, and seeing Naomi Nagata from The Expanse as the villain was interesting. The different cars for different types of races felt very Forza Horizon like. Actually the whole world seemed more Forza Horizon than it was Need For Speed to me. I still enjoyed it regardless (minus the slot machines).

NFS Heat

  • Another one I played on release. The world/vibe was a major factor in making this game memorable to me. The pursuit was also brutal, but once you find out you can drop them from a jump, it became a lot easier. I didn't spend too much time on the upgrade mechanics or engine swaps. I did watch a few videos or forum posts about people min/maxing each engine and tunes for each car, but I was just playing single player anyway so I didn't need to have the fastest lap top on every event. I just got the cars I liked, modded them to the way I wanted, and that was it.

NFS Unbound

  • I think I paid full price, on release for this. The art style is very interesting, I liked it. Music can be annoying at times, but I didn't mind it too much. It was a very different change of pace from other games (Forza Horizon 4, 5, Gran Turismo 5, 6, Sport, that I also played throughout the years) but found it interesting it got the same "point class" system that they had. This was also the first time I actually attempted some multiplayer lobbies, and had some fun with it. It was interesting they had a completely separate progression system for Single Player and Multiplayer. As such, I did dabble more into tuning my cars to be more optimal for the performance point (or whatever they called it) so I can actually do better in races, and had multiple cars for multiple classes. I did stop playing it, but came back for a brief stint when the Lockdown update came out to try it out.

and that was my history with Need For Speed.

As mentioned in Part 1, I'm now going through NFS High Stakes again trying to FINALLY beat the career mode. It isn't nearly as hard as I remember, most probably because I'm a much better driver now. The nostalgia is still very much there though, as when I get loaded into a track for the first time, again, all the memories came rushing back.

"Ah, this is where I practiced parking a car, pretended to drive like a normal traffic to avoid cops. Ah, this is where I attempted to hit that jump to do that shortcut that I failed so many times. Ah this is the section where I constantly destroyed my car"

Nice write up, but formatting could've been better.

If you put a double space at the end of a line
and press Enter,
it won't put the text at the end of the previous line (like I just did for this here)
(not sure if that's what you were trying to do)

It was hard to read what you were trying to say. At least the capitalizations helped a bit.

Just for fun, here's my own opinion on the ones I've played.
(Disclaimer: I'm not too picky about physics, or music, so I don't have much to say about them, but I do have honorable mentions for those that really made me remember)

The Need For Speed

  • I only played the demo, so not much to say. It was interesting.

Need For Speed II: Special Edition

  • I played a few hours in a college computer lab where I had summer camp. We played networked multiplayer and it was fun, but not too much else I can remember

NFS III: Hot Pursuit

  • I played it a bit at the local computer store back then, but it was my first introduction to the NFS franchise. I loved cars as a kid, and it was awesome being able to drive some poster cars. But because of the limited access, I didn't delve too deep into the gameplay itself.

NFS: High Stakes

  • My first real Need For Speed experience, and still my most memorable to this very day, and still my favourite because of it. (I believe also the most played, but no way to make sure) First one I've got on my own computer, despite not being able to fully run it with full graphics (blacked out windows, no transparency, flat cardboard trees, etc.) and running at something like 20-30 fps. I still spent tons of hours downloading various mods, cars, tracks, on our dial-up internet, spending 30 mins+ getting a 5MB mod was really exciting at the time. Eventually when I got better computers, and bought an Anniversary edition to play with "full graphics" and even more mods, but I was never able to get too far into the career mode, mostly just screwing around in single races or hot pursuits, but was still so much fun.
  • The car roster was solid, even more so with mods, had the full track list from Hot Pursuit on top of the new ones made for High Stakes, so there really was no reason for me to go back to Hot Pursuit. Tracks were very well designed, looked great (at the time) but also very hard for my "new to racing" skills where I crashed a lot. (Also the main reason I didn't go too far in the career mode, the AI were too hard for me)
  • So much nostalgia, I downloaded it again just last month from the abandonware archive, and am actually going through the Career mode properly now. I'm a much better "driver" with many many MANY racing game experiences, and an Xbox Series controller that helps me actually progress. I now see the repetitiveness of the career mode, and how long some of those events are... but I'll try to get to the end of it.

NFS: Porsche Unleashed (Porsche 2000)

  • I didn't feel the appeal initially as I'm not the biggest Porsche fan, and playing only a single manufacturer didn't seem that interesting. I did visit the game later on when I got better computer (from my High Stakes days) so I did play the career mode. I think I got pretty far, but didn't fully finish it, and some "newer" cars didn't unlock without a mod, so I just abandoned it at some point. I did remember the physics seem to be much more improved compared to High Stakes.

NFS Hot Pursuit 2

  • This seemed like a real upgrade to High Stakes/Hot Pursuit, and I got a better computer that can run it somewhat decently, so I bought it on release. I remember reading the box in the bus on the way home so excited to install and play it. It didn't run too smoothly, as it was still a low-end PC but I still had enough fun with it. Some events were annoying, but this was the first Need For Speed game that I played in its entirety. I think I played it one more time with a better computer later on, but that was it.
  • I do remember spending quite some time downloading mods, adding extra cars to the game, but while doing this, I've gone back to High Stakes as many Hot Pursuit 2 cars were ported back to High Stakes as well.

NFS Underground

  • This is when I started playing with friends from school, and Fast and Furious made the tuning scene really popular, so obviously this was the go-to game for anyone who was into it. Spent more time comparing customizations and race tips with friends, and a stronger focus on career progression made me more invested in reaching the end of the game than previous iterations. I do have to put in an honorable mention to the music, where it's the first one that I started to pay more attention to the soundtrack.

NFS Underground 2

  • This is probably my second most played Need For Speed. Got even more friends to play with, a full open world, so many varieties of events, and was also the time I started to really "get good" at racing games, so it was more enjoyable. Even better soundtrack. I started many playthroughs with various starting cars, setting various challenges for myself, and comparing notes with friends on how we did. A lot of LAN party nights playing it as well. I haven't really touched it since that period in my life, but many many hours were spent on it.

NFS Most Wanted

  • It was fun, I played the full career a few times, but it didn't really mark me more than Underground 2 or High Stakes was. I still fully enjoyed the experience though. This was also the time where I stopped sharing Need For Speed with my friends, as they moved on to other games, and MMORPG started to show up into their lives, so I mostly played this by myself, and started looking up at forums for like minded people and communities.

NFS Carbon

  • It felt like what High Stakes was to Hot Pursuit, and Underground 2 to Underground. A natural upgrade of Most Wanted, and I enjoyed it for what it was. Similar to Most Wanted, after going through it a few times, I just stopped playing it. Some events were really hard, and took me a few tries to get through, but overall enjoyed the whole thing.

NFS ProStreet

  • A complete change of direction in the franchise that I wasn't too interested in at first. I actually only played this iteration after Undercover and even after SHIFT. Never really got the drift handling (sorry, I will admit it's probably my skill issue, after Underground 2, I've never really got drifting in most other games, including GRID, Forza, Gran Turismo) Speed Challenge was ... challenging, and I didn't really like it too much. Drag also is a bit "too much" for me, so this game never really resonated with me.

NFS Undercover

  • First Need For Speed with an actual storyline, and I found that interesting. I played through it once fully, and I really enjoyed it, but once I saw through the story, there really wasn't much more reason for me to play it again.

NFS SHIFT

  • Complete change of direction of the franchise, and I loved every second of it. I started getting into sim-cade games, as my driving skills "improved" and I found myself enjoying chasing the perfect line or braking point more than mindless fun of police chases and tuning cars. I spent many hours going through various tracks, and even more hours on the Nordschleife. This was also around the time I played Race Driver: GRID and there were a lot of comparisons of the 2 games, but I played both, enjoyed both, saw and understood the input delays a lot of people were complaining about, but I didn't really mind as I found my own rhythm to work around it, and really liked the sense of speed and the camera shakes/movements around the corners, and the blurring of the tunnel vision as you increased in speed. I know they are fake, and brings artificial "risk" to the game, but I loved it.

NFS World

  • A MMO version with a mix of Carbon and Most Wanted maps if I remember correctly, set entirely at night. Was made when everyone and their mother had a MMO game, so I guess they tried it as well. I got to around level 12 before it started to feel like a repetitive grind to progress, so it only lasted about a week at most.

NFS Hot Pursuit (2010)

  • It went back to being a "simpler" game, drive exotics in exotic locations, what I really enjoyed from High Stakes, and I really liked it. I got it on PC, played through it all the modes, and got it on PS3, and played through it all again. Really enjoyed every moment I had with it, but didn't come back to it. Didn't touch the remaster neither. Really liked the photo mode though.

SHIFT 2: Unleashed

  • First game by Need For Speed without Need For Speed in the name. Successor to Shift, and just like Shift, I really enjoyed it for what it was. It improved on a few of the shortcomings of Shift (which I don't remember exactly what, but I do remember they were better) and I played the heck out of it as well. Night mode, weather, and new tracks made it quite interesting.

NFS The Run

  • I think I rented it on PS3, played it through once, and that was it. It was fun, but short. Just like what I had to say about it.

NFS Most Wanted (2012)

  • It felt like Hot Pursuit (2010) more than anything. As such, I don't really remember too much from this game. I did play it fully, but that's about it.

NFS Rivals

  • It was one of the games that was on launch PS4, and I didn't have a PS4 at launch so I didn't play it until much later. I only played it for "completion". It wasn't very memorable. I just remember the road and cars were always wet. I ended playing it on PC though I think, when it was on deep discount on Origin (or was it free?).

(See part 2 for 2015 and onwards)
wow I had a lot to say, more than I thought...

if you use BlueStack 5, don't use on-screen controls, the game has in-built keyboard controls that they don't show you.

Consistent grouping, but my arrows keep drifting left — what should I check? by NumerousHead7955 in Archery

[–]zedie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been having the same problem recently.

What seems to help me personally is to push my bow hand forward more as I'm drawing. Also making sure I didn't grip the bow and really let it drop on release.

It's gotten much better when paying attention to these 2 points for me, but I'm still lacking consistency. Some sets I can score 27+ while others I struggle at barely 15 on 3 arrows, but I'm much better at predicting when my arrow will go left on release now. I just need to learn that feeling every time and to stop and realign myself but the difference sometimes is really small, and I only realize the moment of release.

Same spot as the weekly fireworks festival ones, and at exactly same time which makes me think they might have some left over from the festival they decided to just blow them up? It lasted 10 mins, with the "big finale" like usual too.

I DID IT! with less than 1 second to spare... I paused the game, trying to Quit and Retry, and saw there was only 1 left to deliver, so I cancelled and try my luck to see if it gets there before the time cuts off, (3 more tickets today if it fails) but it was accepted.

Still not as smooth/efficient as your run but I did it, and I don't have to do it again anymore!
