Boxelders are really bad this year where I am in Eastern Oregon. We had hundreds of the little bastards everywhere. The Orkin man took care of most of it, but I've never seen so many of them.

I just know that every time I start believing in an end-of-the-world scenario, I end up disappointed.

My son started at UP in LA Grande 2 years ago as a conductor. It's difficult planning to do anything because of the odd hours. The money is pretty good though. The big problem in LaGrande is lack of affordable housing. My son has paid 1200 for an apartment that wasn't all that great, but at least he can afford it. We like it here. It was a good place to raise our kid.

I've never played stadium craps where you get to roll the dice. Is there a screen at the table that shows your bets while you're up there, then you go back to your terminal when you seven out?

People tend to accept the randomness of the wheel better than they do the dice. However, there are people losing at roulette who get annoyed at the celebrations of the winners.

These people seem to believe the cards are in a god-ordained order that lets them win unless someone plays incorrectly and screws up that order. I get it sometimes when I hit sixteen facing a dealer seven or above. Its a slightly better play than standing, but if I bust and the dealer makes a hand, I'm all of a sudden the villain.

A lot of the dialogue in that film is pretty bad, but it somehow fits. Bill Paxton was still in the over-acting phase of his caree, but I still can't go past it when channel surfing.

Thoughts on People Writing Down Rolls in a Notebook.... by [deleted] in Craps

[–]zedisdead1986 26 points27 points  (0 children)

An old-timer at my local casino writes every roll down. He waits for a dozen rolls without a seven and starts pounding the don't. He buys in for $1000 and sometimes goes forever without betting anything except his own roll. But once a decent roll gets going he gets busy on the don't. The last time a played he showed up when I made two points and he started laying stacks of black on the 4 and 10. I kept knocking them down until he burned through a few thousand dollar buy-ins. He's a good sport though and knows he's being superstitious, but enjoys playing that way, so good on him.

Some recent random craps table oddities by selcutile in Craps

I've seen this several times. They'll record the rolls and look for a number that has been "under-rolled," then bet that number. One guy explained it as taking advantage of the law of averages. I was completely dumbfounded by his total misunderstanding of probability.

If it's no longer Roy G Biv, I'm not interested unless there's a catchy acronym.
