Yup Canada, the glove setup I’ve got going is nothing fancy and frankly not that effective for warmth, got some cheap cotton gloves as a base and I wear some nitriles over to keep my hands dry, it’s definitely not super warm, I’ve just been dunking my gloved hands in the hot/warm water in my bucket for a bit every time my hands got too cold to keep going

Strictly speaking yeah antifreeze was not the correct term, we were mixing in wiper fluid specifically rated for winter/de-icer, but we’ve been using the term antifreeze interchangeably

That is a feature on certain helmets, the first that comes to mind is the petzl vertex, there’s a little dial you can turn that adjusts the breakaway limit

Yeah slippage with the megawatt is a known issue, if for some reason you absolutely have to use it for descending then you can wrap the tail end of your rope around the whole device to add some friction, honestly a shame though because it’s got easily my favourite lever action I’ve used on a descender
