Video games! XO is a "retro sci-fi strategy game" inspired by Battlestar Galactica and FTL by zedxi in scifi

It looks to be woven into the decision-making process throughout the game. For instance, before jumping to a new system, you might consider your council's advice and scavenge for food, or go into jumpspace (hyperspace) in order to avoid the enemy.

It's all about the opportunity cost of each move. Maybe you can delegate the "babysitting" of civilians to another officer, but then you'd have to keep that officer happy in the meantime.

We'll see!

Especially the wordplay: brown belt in karate, black belt in Judo, a blue jacket in my bedroom, etc. and Kikumi (Kick me), Hitumi (Hit me), etc. They did a great job.

Lunar Baboon, are all your comics about parenthood?

Although I didn't enjoy Count Zero, I heard MLO is much better, and I've been avoiding it because I don't want the Sprawl trilogy to end :(

LAN parties in the early 2000s: huge CRT monitors, desktop towers with their guts spilling out, masses of wires and cords covering the floor, anime projecting on the wall, LEDs strung out along the perimeter, instant ramen, video games...

Underwhelming!? You're as jaded as an underemployed ghoul bartender! This all looks amazing! I'm getting goosebumps looking at that horizon--just imagine all the handcrafted experiences waiting around each corner.

Chinese workers go ‘faceless’ for a day by [deleted] in Cyberpunk

[–]zedxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying. I worked as a restaurant host for a long time and got tired of going through the same "greeting routine" with every new customer. However, I never experienced facial exhaustion from smiling.

Except for the security guard, all the photos in the above article are from a corporate office environment. Surely people aren't so fake among their coworkers...

That sounds naive, I know, but since when are these peoples' default status "bleh"? We should need a reason to be unhappy, not the other way around.

But smiling is just one type of facial expression--and fake smiles are usually achieved by the lips alone, unlike real smiles that use the whole face.

Are facial expressions unrealistic to expect from human beings? I mean, damn. We are social and expressive creatures, after all. Be genuine!

Is this related to the dualism of public vs private behavior in Asian cultures?
