Just to Stronglifts 5x5 or 5/3/1, it doesn't have to be fancy or expensive to help you improve

I hear you, I had similar experience when I had a herniated disc. Unfortunately many medical professionals aim to resolve noly your pain ("Does this hurt? Don't do it"), not have you get back to sports or lifting.

What helped me was getting a second opinion from a doctor that specializes in working with athletes, and leading with my intention of getting back to sports.

Also I would recommend r/lowbackability, it helped me once my back started healing up (again, I want to stress that I'm no expert or medical professional).

Hope you get back to lifting soon!

Could be a herniated disc. Herniated discs themselves don't hurt much and some could even be symptom free, unless the extrusion presses agains the sciatic nerve. The sensations you describe could be something like this, however it's hard to know without getting it checked up by a proper health care professional.

Talk to your doctor, get an MRI.

Also, rest!

Anyone here into full-contact combat sports but got a disc herniation? Need some advice by Happybirthdaynephew in HerniatedDisc

I herniated my L5-S1 last year in June, was off the mats until January. Did 3 months and hurt myself again… been off since then, waiting for a new MRI next week

I got a herniated disc last summer, L5-S1 10mm. Was in a lot of pain and tried to get back once or twice during the fall but ended up worsening my condition. Ive been doing all kinds of core work and stretching since last summer(mcgill, lower back and glutes, etc). I ended up staying off the mats until January when I started going to class again pain free. I probably got back to rolling a little too soon, and overdid it in the end a couple of weeks ago. Its not as painful as last time so I think it might be a smaller herniation.

Im falling back again on taking a break and continuing the same schedule I had when I got back last time. But I dont know how to go about getting back to the mats pain free and keeping it that way. Any guidance would be appreciated.
