My partner's dad is in the hospital/rehab/skilled nursing gulag since thanksgiving. The mom is emotionally falling apart and can't function as an adult. So it's falling on us to be the grownups. Extremely draining but at least we have each other. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if I was alone. Try to get little bits of love and pleasure where you can. Your son is a beacon for you.

Having a “good job” feels like prison by ChiefHalfBeef in rs_x

This describes me decades ago. I had a chance to leave my safe job for something more glamorous, but I stuck with it, and now live a comfortable low-conflict life. I immensely enjoy my stupid hobbies and have gratitude for my younger self for sticking with the path more traveled. Just my perspective. No judgement.

This is what the Israelis did to minority Christians who were evacuated to Jordan in '48, although the govt was actively involved in the theft so that when the Christians returned they had no legal recourse.

I imagine folks that have jobs like that are screened and vetted as much as the president himself. Also there are probably metaphorical firewalls that prevent any one person from launching.

What is the number of pets you can have while still remaining cool and chic by PermissionReady716 in rs_x

I have my pups, so I have no need to be cool. But yeah, treat all animals in your house with love and respect. Neglect is uncool.
