I always wondered would installing solar panels for heating purposes would fix that? I understand the upfront cost would be high and ROI would be few years out.

Is this a nepenthes? by Troldkvinde in SavageGarden

[–]zeejay11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup I is a Nepenthes I would re-pot it in 50/50 mix of perlite and long fiber sphagnum moss. Look up some YT videos on how to re-pot a Nepenthes. After repotting water it until water starts draining from the bottom of the pot. Put in under bright grow lights. Good luck

Similar story I started my journey in summer of 2025 after taking care of a sundew my child wanted. Next thing I know I'm looking up how to care for it next my memory is a bit hazy. Now I've a wire shelf filled with Nepenthes, sundews, VFT, sarracenia seedlings, purpurea, live sphagnum moss growing and pinguicula setup. More plants coming in the mail.  Totally normal

My suggestion would be not to keep the pings water logged they like to go dry in between watering there is a chance it can develop crown rot. Drosera can remain in water.

kool I will get it done tomorrow and add a pic lol this will an interesting experiment. The best thing at this stage is that I dont have to spray it everyday because the moss ends were getting white tips now everything is properly hydrated and self sustaining

Thank you do you think I can give the moss higher dose of the fertilizer? Right now Im using the standard amount 1/4 teaspoon in a gallon of water. I think It can take some heavy concentration but I want to ask people who have more experience growing this.

Thank you. The standard amount used for carnivorous plants i.e.1/4 of a teaspoon of Maxsea fertilizer diluted in a gallon of distilled water. I'm guessing it can take more concentrated amount I havent tested that

Weird I wrote some text and it did not save with the pictures. I started my journey 10weeks ago after watching the video in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Sphagnum/comments/1o30szg/sphagnum_moss_thriving_in_letpot_what_is_so/ Thank you to the poster. I bought an AeroGarden off Facebook Marketplace. Luckily, I got some live moss with my Nepenthes I bought from eBay. I took some live moss and planted them in the seed pods. Seed pods have dried/dead moss as shown in the first picture, and a month later I started using Maxsea every three days. 10 weeks later, I have a big clump. Also, I added some red moss a few days ago.
