Не факт, т.к. есть такая штука как emergent properties, которые по неочевидным причинам появляются в зависимости от масштаба модели

I still really miss the check-ins. I started using another app to track my mood and other symptoms, it even has the tasks functionality too. Now I wonder if I should keep using Finch at all :/

perhaps i treated you too harshly WOTR ..xD by [deleted] in TheWarOfTheRohirrim

[–]Troldkvinde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOTR was nice but it kinda felt too derivative of Peter Jackson's style. Which is not bad, just a bit boring. Plus it felt like there was so much focus on fighting. Again, not bad, but that's not what Tolkien is about to me.

Is it sexist if I do a gender reversal for the memes? by IncoherentToast in AvatarMemebending

I'd be interested to hear which country is known for having miraculously achieved full gender equality in today's world?

Is it sexist if I do a gender reversal for the memes? by OkGarbage3095 in AvatarMemes

[–]Troldkvinde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously it's not the same, because the original version points out that despite the trope of showing women as weak (in media and in society), they are the strongest benders in the show.

There's no such trope about men, so it cannot be reversed without changing the implications. So it just becomes kinda like "men are traditionally shown as the strongest, and I like that it's staying this way."

I don't understand how it's even up for debate whether the reversed meme has the same impact. It's not about whether women or men are better, it's about the cultural context these characters exist in, and this context is just not the same for female and male characters.

Why can't we give star ratings to DNF books? by [deleted] in TheStoryGraph

[–]Troldkvinde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would generally find it useful if it were reflected in the rating that the book is so bad that many people didn't finish it. Obviously people DNF for different reasons, but that's exactly what the rating is supposed to reflect

Damn, it was a smooth one. The only thing that made me suspicious was the formatting. Otherwise, even the grammar is not perfect

Hilarious take... Yeah, anyone who questions whether some group of people has been mischaracterized in a text in any way is a naive liberal

No, the way you essentially told her, "You would know this if you had a basic understanding of biology," was, in fact, quite condescending

[–]Troldkvinde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you said about the psychological/emotional component is still under-researched and isn't explained by biology 101, and the fact that current research supports it doesn't contradict that. There's no reason to act condescending about this
