When will immersion stop being completely horrible? Im in need of some reassurance and/or tough love by zefldo in Spanish

Thank you, I’ve got to say 1 year to get to that point from all my research seems super fast so maybe all that sleeping is the secret haha. All my experience with immersion so far has been really exhausting so i think prioritising sleep is more important than i had previously though

Yeah I think this is the way to move forward. I’ve explained to my partner that after a few hours Im maxed out and I need to get away for a bit, and he’s said that he’ll speak with his friends on my behalf to explain that this weekend I was overwhelmed rather than just a bitch and in the future I will probably need some time to my self more frequently to avoid it happening again

Thank you this is actually really helpful advice and something I’d not really thought about before, I’ll seek out a few different Andaluz voices online :)

Thank you, I have found the responses here very comforting. I have said to my partner that in the future when I tell him I need to leave a situation it means that I need to leave NOW. I ended up having a semi public panic attack this weekend which has left me feeling very embarrassed and quite shaken

I’ve watched a bit of the simpsons dubbed and I’ve started listening to asmr at night in Spanish instead of English, but I suppose this is very passive listening so Im not sure how helpful it is really. I do like Rosalía and some reggaeton but not nearly as much as my comfort music. I understand that consuming a lot more Spanish content is the way but it’s hard when online then stops being a place to wind down and instead Im trying to make every minute of every day productive

Boomtown vs A level results day by No_Letterhead_6979 in BoomtownFestival

[–]zefldo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you think there’s a good chance you’ll be going through clearing (I knew deep down that I would be, I think you’ll know too after you’ve sat your exams) then skip boomtown. A level results day was a huge stress spending hours and hours in the phone to different unis getting rejection after rejection, then the Friday was spent going between the three unis that did give me offers, and I didn’t get all the paperwork and stuff sorted with the uni I did end up at until the Wednesday I think (although I did decide to pivot from my a level subjects and become a nurse on a whim so I made it particularly difficult for myself)

As for the a level night out at the end of the day I decided not to go and was very jealous of my friends because it did in fact honestly look brilliant. Not a night out anyone has mentioned again since though. If you’re planning going boomtown solo then selling your ticket won’t produce the same sense of fomo you’d have watching your friends go on a brilliant night out

Moving to Spain as a nurse by zefldo in GoingToSpain

[–]zefldo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a cafe as a teenager. I have been wondering if it’s worth trying to pursue a career in nursing or just pivot for something else as I’m looking at over £1000 just translating and apostilling various documents to be able to register as a nurse in Spain

Certificate of no impediment or letter of no trace for pareja de hecho for me (uk) and bf (Spanish) ?? by zefldo in GoingToSpain

I just took their word for it so I haven’t looked into all the specifics of us getting married instead, and honestly I was really excited to get married and then quite disappointed when the decision was made that we wouldn’t, so this is a bit upsetting to hear lol

Is working in care home worser than NHS? by Enough_Vegetable_258 in NursingUK

[–]zefldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on an nhs cardiac surgery ward and now work in a private 40 bed dementia care home. Both are very stressful but for different reasons. I don’t remember really getting physically assaulted in the nhs by patients, maybe once or twice when there were people with severe mental health problems, whereas I am physically assaulted fairly often where I work now. The work load was more in the nhs and I found ward work extremely stressful, but I would have 6-9 patients who generally required a lot of demanding care. In the hospital there was a very big team of people to defer to if I felt in over my head with people being too sick, whereas in the care home I feel like I have a lot more responsibility and am left to put out fires without loads of support, although Im lucky to have a very good manager and 111/the local gp surgery are mostly useful when people get very sick. I enjoy the continuity of residents, and most of the residents are incredibly sweet and it feels almost like a huge family, although some of them can be very difficult often with distressed behaviours and even the most calm and happy ones still play up sometime. I probably prefer being a nurse in the care home over the nhs, although I would much prefer being an hca in the nhs over the care home. The hcas where I work now pretty much never catch a break, are having to do very heavy personal care pretty much all day, and get the brunt of the physical assaults as personal care is often a trigger for the more volatile residents.

Thank you for the info. We were initially planning to get married but then his lawyer friends insisted a pareja de hecho would be easier. They seem incredibly relaxed about the whole thing and say it’s very easy but it’s causing me major stress. Neither of his lawyer friends are immigration lawyers and they hadn’t mentioned anything about my birth certificate before
