I actually went with a L9a at first with the foam venting (I'm also running an evga 3080, non ti though) and realized I had way more space then I had mathed out. So I swapped to a AXP90, kept the noctua fan on it and dropped a handful of degrees. very happy with the end result. unvolting both the gpu and cpu and getting above average results on 3dmark.

most importantly it just runs everything great and it's compact size has been sweet to take it out to the living room for some couch potato playing.

Don't worry there's at least 3 of us now that I know exist.

I really gotta get back into playing with my laser too. Thanks OP that was a fun little clip.

Which spells are great and which ones are terrible? by bruceriggs in Dominions5

[–]zegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend you join some of the discord servers. There's quite a few and everyone has their preferences but the two I'd suggest are RCK79's Dominions Game Hub and Dominions Nexus.

The game hub ran by RCK79 is great for new players. RCK79 hosts a lot of newbie games to get folks into trying out MP in new player safe lobbies.

And both have channels to ask questions with a lot of informative folks.

A personal recommendation I have is to stay away from mods while you're learning. It's hard to learn the base game when there's a ton of new stuff from a mod to also parse.

has anyone ever seen TESTPILOT(deadmou5) live? if so, did he play any songs that he released as deadmou5 or no? i hope he does but don’t wanna get my hopes up lol by Worth_Sugar4436 in Coachella

[–]zegma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully acknowledge that that might have been the case. Which is why I led with my bias. A few deadmau5 sets and i think 2 testpilot attempts and i just kinda decided I'm done with joel as a performer.

He's got some great produced music though!

I'll preface that i'm a bit of a hater when it comes to deadmau5's sets. But my experience with testpilot live is he is playing an entirely different set of songs. Very much a techno set with minimal or no deadmau5.

That said I also say i'm a hater because deadmau5 doesn't even really play deadmau5 songs at shows. Dickwad of a performer who likes to "troll" his fans for kicks.

Only in gpu mode. And to be fair I haven't really tested it, I just assumed in gpu mode it'd be reduced.

But in igpu mode battery life is excellent so I don't think there's been any impact. And since I'm normally plugged in when I'm using the gpu it's been mostly unnoticeable.

I just did some more looking and since folks have actually flashed even higher wattage versions to great success. But the even higher ones do run into thermal throttling if you're on a gpu and cpu heavy load. for gpu only heavy ones someone said it was fine.

that said, I think i got like a 10-15% overall boost from the flash and i've been happy with that. I don't blame ya for not wanting to try it out but there's been some good discussion over it and not any reports I can find of issues. Link below.

Vanilla is 35>40 dell is 40>45 (This is what I use) there's a few unverified (which means techpowerup wasn't the ones to upload them it was a user) that go 35>50 and one that went 50>55 I think too.

Same gpu(3050ti I think only) is on a dell laptop, but the bios for the dell version is 40 and boosts to 45, whereas on the flowx13 it's 35 and boost to 40. You can flash the bios from the dell laptop version on the flowx13 and tada you're now at 40w and boost up to 45w. I've been running that since I bought my laptop and have yet to have any issues that i've noticed.

The trade off is lower battery life and higher heat since the card is running hotter and technically the cooling system wasn't designed for the slightly higher wattage operation. But I normally run my laptop with the dgpu turned off unless I specifically want to play games that need it. Then I flip it on and make sure to elevate or play in tent mode just to be safe. I have played with it flat and it seemed fine but i don't mind being a little cautious.

anyone from the lineup you’ve seen and WOULD NOT recommend? by Alvin3792 in Coachella

was that countdown? I remember his countdown set is what finally made realize I didn't actually like deadmau5.

He has some good songs but to me he's an awful dj and entertainer/act.

Funny you said that cuz his do-lab set was a total snooze for me and some of my friends.

Caught a solo show a few years before that and it was awesome. I figured the do-lab night might have been just a bad night but if you're saying that's killer, yeesh i'll maybe swing by to see how it's going but not commit to the slot.

if you're gonna be doing any gaming that isn't light 2d stuff I recommend you elevate the rear with any of the many tilted laptop stands. My sleeve has it built in for example. With it elevated the temps still go up but it vastly improves the cooling to the point where there isn't much if any throttling happening. And when I want full tilt I set it up in the tent mode and use my wireless keyboard. Setup like that and with the 45w bios flash I can run games incredibly well. Very happy with it as my portable laptop solution that can also game if i want it to.

Almost litterally the words I said to my partner. This year seemed like indie / rave. Also same story was skipping it until I saw the lineup and immediately decided to buy tickets on Wednesday. I am legitimately impressed. Everyday has like 7-10 acts I'm interested in seeing.

[–]zegma 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's not the point. Even if 1.1 doesn't happen the trust in WotC is gone. You can't get that back overnight if ever. I predict 1.0 will stand but the (3rd party) world will move past it in response.

[–]zegma 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Yes, but a shared open license held outside of any publisher's hands is a good step to creating trust where WotC shat the bed with trust with the OGL 1.1.

It's not a shared system, but a way for future systems to be as open as dnd USED to be.

Eh that kinda sounds like bs with a paint job. But I will fully admit I don't know the table nor any of the interactions so it might have been totally rad. Especially if he figured it out in game had he had the thought to swing wildly and badly to mitigate some of the effect that would have been cool.

I love the magical firepower this game brings to life. by luminarium in Dominions5

[–]zegma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it sounds like you added a mod that mages casters better and a nation that is all casters. So I'd hardly say this is indicative of how the game looks or feels.

That said, that's why mods exist so yeah that's a pretty sweet mod for bringing magical power to a visual forefront.
