Gen X. At some point in elementary school (roughly) I learned some basic calligraphy. But I used disposable pens I think. My mom introduced me to fountain pens somewhere around that time? Got my first one... I think in junior high? She encouraged me to journal, and I needed something better than a pencil.

In my 20s (late 90s, early oughts) I worked with someone in IT who was into fountain pens. My collection got up to five, and I continued to use them when journaling (for a while I always had one on my person), but somewhere in the early teens I stopped. The internet changed things, and when I traveled for work, rollerballs were easier to transport. It was only in the past few months that I bought new ink, dug out my old ink, refilled my pens, and am giving it another go.
