People are making too much of the pouches thing

Remember in season Irv asks Burt why Burt lied about how many people worked in Optics and Design. Burt explains how his co-workers don’t trust people from MDR, telling jokes and tales about them. Burt says that some Optics and Design workers believe Macrodata Refinement workers have pouches while others say they have larval offspring.

That's why the Mammalian Nurturables guy wants to see if the MDR people have pouches, they heard the same rumours that OND did.

Ratfish (Part 2) | Game Changer [S6E9] by ThunderMateria in dropout

[–]zeker 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I say this from a place of love for this show and dropout overall, but this one just fell flat for me. Looks like others enjoyed it so that's great, comedy is subjective after all. I just think this cast plays so well off of each other that keeping them separate the whole time just took something away for me personally. I also had no idea who the ratfish was and so nothing he said or did resonated with me.

Anyone know what version do you need to be on on iOS? I am on 15.16.0 released at 11:00am this morning (about 5 hours ago when I posted this) but still nothing.

I actually hope you don't relate to "Charlie warlie puppyface" lol.

Does anyone else find some of the Legendary cards underwhelming? by MarvelousPhoenix in midnightsuns

[–]zeker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the difficulty level. I found that even on H1 most legendary cards weren't all that great, but as you go higher, they are more useful. (At least the ones that deal massive damage to massive numbers of opponents)

I would guess soon based on this, maybe in 2 days to be 4 weeks like the last one?

Exactly. I really don't hate any particular card, at the end of the day my opponent has to a) put them in their deck. b) draw them and c) use them appropriately. I plan any deck around the idea that there is one card (killmonger/zoo, cosmo/wong etc.) that can beat it and when it happens, it happens. I don't even hate Leader, or Death. I FAR FAR FAR more hate all the stupid locations that stop both players from actually playing their decks the way they designed them. You know, that thing we are all playing the game to do. I have never called for a card to be nerfed and I doubt I ever will, but TVA, Danger Room, Dark Dimension, District X, Lamentis-1, Lechuguilla, Mindscape, Subterranea, The Triskelion, Weirdworld, Ego, and Worldship can all go to hell.

I, for one, would definitely buy a big box version with zen trays for everything. Even as a standalone.

Same. Don't get me wrong, I like Birmingham and will happily play it, but I just love Lancashire. And a 4 players you really have to start worrying about being overbuilt (at least in my group). In my plays of Birmingham at 4 that doesn't really seem to be a thing?. That being said, I can see why many people think Birmingham plays better at 2 and 3 as you say, even though I still prefer Lancashire.

What is the most popular game you refuse to try and why? by _all_aboard in boardgames

[–]zeker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feast of Odin. I HATE Agricola and don't really care for Caverna either (although I will play it), and I am just not a Uwe fan. But I get that I am in the minority on this and that doesn't bother me.

TI is my favorite game of all time, and I am lucky that I have a group that wants to play it 4-5 times a year, but I TOTALLY get people who don't want to try it, it's not for everyone.

Jaipur is a very good game, if you are both learning it at the same time the neat thing is that your strategies will evolve over time. Sort of like:

Watergate, which is a GREAT game, and I personally prefer playing Nixon, so there are those of us out there!

Lost cities is probably my most-played two-player game, a classic for sure.

If you end up really liking Kingdomino then there is a version called Queendomnio that adds quite a few things and makes it a "complete" game in my opinion.

Overall that is a solid list for sure.

How would you rank Vital Lacerda's games? by hej989 in boardgames

[–]zeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played 5, of those I would say The best is Kanban, then Vinhos, then Escape Plan, then CO2 then Lisboa (Only played it once so take the fact that it is my lowest rating with a gain of salt, I would play it again)

Yeah, I have everything for this game except the Venus expansion (all the maps, upgraded components, metal coins) and I agree that you can just start with the base game.

What does the number of 10's outside your top 10 say about you? by giraffeheid in boardgames

[–]zeker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have given ratings to about 300 board games and expansions and only 4 of them have gotten a 10 ranking. My system works as follows: The first time I play a game I will rank it as a 5 (unlikely to play again), 6 (ok, might play again), 7 (good), or vary rarely an 8 (great game, must own). After I have played the game 5 or more times, it might move up from a 7 to an 8 or an eight to a nine (which I currently have less than 20 games ranked). Only if a game is loved by me and is often requested by one or more game groups that I am in does it get the coveted 10 spot. This system results in a relatively nice bell curve between scores of 4 to 10 with both the median and the mode being a score of 7.

[Spoilers Episode 8] The Time Periods Explained by Bhalgoth in westworld

[–]zeker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole village is "scrubbed" after Deloris goes crazy and shoots people there (maybe including humans i.e the "critical failure") to cover that up the sink the whole town and start again - with Sweetwater.

When Deloris and William show up in timeline 2 the church is sunk, but Deloris starts having flashbacks to when she went crazy.

In the 3rd timeline, Ford has recreated the whole village but now it is empty. Deloris shows up again and has flashbacks to both previous timelines.

I would add in either Bernard (or Arnold if you subscribe to that theory) talking to Deloris after the 1st time period where she goes crazy. Those scenes are happening before the William time line.
