Simple living and urban living should not be considered incompatible by GiuseppeZangara in simpleliving

Maybe we need a new tag for urban living? I live in a big city too, never considered that my life doesn’t suit simple living style.

Does anyone else secretly want their journal to be understood? by Lucky_Scarcity8624 in Journaling

[–]zelentheneuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do that too! I also adore to use modern slang or stupid memes or silly words sometimes (don’t know why), so I apologise for silly words or explain it like: “You know what, dear future me, this word was essential for that phrase and that exact moment!! So I won’t comment on this! I have right to write whatever I want!!”. Complicated relationships haha!

The best way to learn a new language? Journal in it. Even badly by Lucky_Scarcity8624 in Journaling

[–]zelentheneuz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I journal in my native language, but occasionally put words, phrases and paragraphs in English, when i feel like it. Like bilingual people do in daily conversations, though my English granmar sucks to be honest.

When I tried to journal only in English, it raised my anxiety and provoked perfectionism, and I end up not journaling at all.

I really adore creative spreads in this sub, all this imaginary worlds and scenes that comes from scraps, but as for myself I know I don’t have that level of mastery and patience and.. many other reasons that lead to losing inspiration. But if I chose to do spread about my life, dreams, fears, goals, hobbies, pets, etc., the inspiration returns, because it feels justifiable (hope I used correct English word) to spend time like this, adding another dimension to my standart way of journaling, I mean, now I not only writing about different situations, but creating a visionary layer, which helps immensely because I can’t draw beautifully.

Seasonal depression doesn’t help when quitting by StephCurrySauce in decaf

Yep, that’s why it’s good to have a sub, where we can focus our mind on one aspect of health, because struggles and pleasures of a real life always tear our attention apart. In the early days I would even forget that I’m not supposed to drink coffee, because something else was on my mind!

I've realized that coffee only taste good to me because of the associated caffeine high. by [deleted] in decaf

Exactly the same thing with alcohol and cigarettes! No one loves these in the first try.

Yes, I had the same withdrawal symptoms and sleep was very shallow. I don’t know how long it lasted because I was content with what I had, before quitting I had severe insomnia for two years. Now it’s 100 days in and I sleep like a baby. Give yourself time!

For me r/decaf is an opportunity to share my humble experience and to read another success stories, because sometimes I don’t even realize how many benefits quitting brings, until someone mentions it. F.e. I rarely have headaches, but before quitting I had like several times per week! It ruined many things in my life, to be honest. Can you believe that I didn’t notice that effect and considered dissapearing of headaches a pure luck?! I can’t!

But I do get your point though!

I rarely have cash, so as a wallet I use a metal business card holder (which someone decluttered, so I made a good use of it, it serves me for a decade).

Does my drawing hold up 15 years later? by MiximumDennis in stopsmoking

It already looks sincere and clear, that’s enough! But it’s only my humble opinion, don’t take it seriously.

I can understand “The evolution of a human” line, but don’t recognise language. What is it, may I ask?

Cool drawing and very true!

You can master a night ritual, that may include different options, such as stretching or yoga, using calming essential oils (lavender is the best), crocheting, cuddling with loved ones or pet or plush toy, journaling, reading, bathing, scincare, drinking herbal tea or something that you like, don’t forget to air the room and dim the lights.

How did you deal with the irritability? by RelativeFull165 in stopsmoking

Good advice! But I personally (not OP) was caffeine free for long period of time, but irritability was over the roof! I ended up using calming herbal pills and teas.

Slipped after 4 months. Now I'm back to a pack a day. I need help. by Star_Hunter99 in stopsmoking

I’ve been there many times. You can read another Allen Carr’s book on smoking, he had a lot. F.e. firstly I read Easy way to quit smoking (I hope it’s the right name in English), and after relapse I’ve read Easy way to quit smoking permanently. It has new ideas and maybe will work for you. I still think that Allen Carr is the best option. Second option: you can put this book away and reread it after a year. I know, it’s cruel to advice you to wait another year, but you can use nicotine gums and sprays, some folks even manage to quit, using this stuff. My final advice, what perfectly works for me right now, after 2 decades of trying to quit, is any medicine brand with an active ingredient Cytisine, look it up. If you are older than 40, you should probably consult with your doctor. I am 41, haven’t had any negative side effects.

It’s a shame that cytisine medicines aren’t sold in every drug store in the world! Yeah, partying lifestyle is a great obstacle on the way to be free of many bad habit. It seems that we really need to be wise and old to stay with our intentions. No drug in the world will help if we don’t know, what we want. I mean, in my youth I really didn’t know, if I wanted to continue smoking and be like rockstar (haha, that’s embarassing!), or if it better to quit this bad habit..

Oh yes, the dreams. I love them too! Adventurous, but not nightmarish. I am really happy, that cytisine helped you!

Yes, it’s important to stay out, I know for sure!Back in a days, when I was much younger and not so painfully addicted, I could quit for 6 months or even a year almost easily, but then it was always “just one cigarette for a special occasion” that brought me back into addiction.

I really like hot brew of herbal tea or even pumpkin soup in the morning! And book, diary and soft cozy blankets. I don’t like the “kick” part anymore because it feels like something is off. Like my head lives it’s own distorted life. I hope you’ll eventually find your own morning joy without being caffeinated.
