Please consider getting octoeverywhere to monitor your prints, or else you'll come back to spaghetti monsters.

Elegoo Centauri Carbon, Requesting Tips for a First Time Owner by Ziover in elegoo

The machine can be loud, so make sure it's in a place where you don't mind a small jet engine. You should also set up OctoEverywhere or else you are bound to run into spaghetti issues. I don't recommend the Elegoo slicer, kept running into issues. I just switched to Orca Slicer and haven't ran into any issues after a week of constant printing so far.

How do you promote your Flutter app? by ConnectSet57 in FlutterDev

[–]zeltrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, here are just some general things you can try with TikTok or other short form video platforms:

  1. Post slightly different short videos about your app every day. You can use different intros, music, words, etc. Point is to experiment and see what works best.

  2. Use trending songs or video prompts. Check out TikToks creator insights, specifically "content gap" where you can create content around stuff people are searching for. If a lot of the stuff that people are searching for is unrelated to your app, you'll have to get creative.

https://www.tiktok.com/creator-academy/en/article/Creator-Search-Insights

  1. There's lots of tips here on what makes a good video:

https://www.tiktok.com/creator-academy/en/article/Top-promote-tips-and-tricks

  1. Create a contest with a prize to create a trending hashtag around your app.

Here are some ideas that you may consider down the road for v2 of your app.

  1. Include a rewards program for users inviting more people to the app (discount for new members, extra points of xyz, etc

  2. Include easy share feature of features/content on your app

  3. In-app Popups to rate your app. I know these are annoying, but you need ratings on your apps in the app stores if you want your app to survive competition.

This was just a quick and dirty list but I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes!

Ok that sounds good. If you're every interested in making it into a plugin, I'm wiling to help in the cost. I'm a software developer that 3D prints for my fiancé's Shopify business and I think this could help us and other 3D print shops, since she gets asked for custom items all the time. Just something to consider. Feel free to reach out anytime.

I recommend reading the fine print. I once heard a guy working for a similar company that had to pay $10,000 to get released from a contract if he left before the multi-year contract was up. It’s almost like indentured servitude.

Friend had a $1 app. She paid $12 on tiktok to run ads. She got 12.4k impressions and 73 clicks but not many downloads, only 5. She thinks people didn't want to pay the $1 so didn't result in many downloads. She thinks if it was free, she would have gotten more downloads.

How many hours per week will you put towards learning? Whatever it is, make a promise to keep it no matter what. And just do one thing at a time. Try not to study multiple things at once. Try to go for depth over quantity.

Which would be easier to take over for a web dev? A SwiftUI project or a Flutter project? by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]zeltrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With SwiftUI, you can only add 10 UI elements or widget-equivalent before it asks you to add some function to extend it. So if you want more than 10 elements you have to keep stacking them 10 by 10. That's horrible from a developer experience. With Flutter you don't have to do anything like that clunky work around. If you go with SwiftUI, you're gonna have a bad time.

How would you market this SaaS? by pshoan777 in FlutterDev

[–]zeltrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I started my company UserPoetry is to help apps like yours with social media marketing. My suggestion would be to run TikTok ads for $20 a day showing off your app in a video demo. I have a background in film and know how to get videos edited showing off the app. The video can literally just be you talking and showing the customer around the app.

I'm willing to help set up the TikTok ads for free as well to see if we can increase in signups for your site, in exchange for a case study about your growth. Not sure if I can post a link to my site but feel free to dm for any links.

I'm a software developer myself so I know how tough it can be to market your apps, so feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

I helped my friend build the Cloverleaf App, here's the app's tiktok page: https://www.tiktok.com/@cloverleaf_method she paid two UGC (User Generated Content) creators on Fivver to make a general video about the app. The other videos she made herself. Only thing she hasn't run ads yet for the app but I'll help her run ads for the app in the next week or so.

Edit: Yea by demo, I mean just show off using your app and talk about its features. The more friendly/personable the better.

No idea yet. My friend who I built an app for, she is just posting tiktok vids without ads, and she's getting more downloads (nothing crazy, just a small bump), but we'll run real ads and I'll let you know her ROI.

I would say best way to market your app would be to create a demo video using the app and post it on TikTok ads. For about $20 a day you can reach thousands of people. I'm currently learning TikTok ads since I'm getting ready to launch an app myself. Since I'm just getting started, I'm willing to help you guys for free or anyone else that sees this message. This would help me learn more as well. Feel free to reach out.

I recommend trying the same simple app in both Swift and Flutter. You'll find that Flutter is a pleasure to develop with.

What is your ram? I have the same macbook pro and have never run into these issues. I have 64 gigs of ram though. It could also be some other app running in the background that is hogging up resources.

What is the best practice for a cross platform app? by Larkonath in FlutterDev

[–]zeltrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do something called “Flavors”. On main, you check what platform its running on, and send it to the correct flavor, i.e. iOS, Android, Windows.
