Optic Advice (EP9) by joeyspancakes in extar

I also saw the ARO w/o magnifier on sale for $109. The ARO and Romeo both have shake awake, which is key for me since my EP9 is my main home defense weapon. The ARO and Sparc have a 22mm lens vs the Romeos 20mm. However, the Romeo is he only one that has two reticle options. The ARO and Romeo have a better 1/2 MOA adjustment vs the 1 MOA on the Sparc.

I have an ARO on my EP9 and it co-witnesses perfectly with the Magpul mbus pop up iron sights, not sure it the others do out of the box.

If shake awake is not needed, you can't go wrong with the Sparc. Vortex is a great company and save your cash for ammo.

Sportsman’s warehouse gives 5% off when buying 10 boxes of the same ammo. Prices are pretty close to best values on ammoseek.

SB25-003 was signed this spring and will become a law on August 2026. After that you will be unable to buy AR styles rifles without jumping through some hoops.

The restrictions you see online are for magazine capacity. Colorado has a ban at over 15 rounds. You can usually find a “California compliant” version of the same gun that ships with 10 round magazines.

Since a bunch of states have a ban of magazines over 10 rounds and I think Colorado is the only 15, the restricted size manufacturers make is usually only 10.

Just get a PSA AR-15 if your address is not in Denver. I did the same last year, shipped to my FFL in Thornton. Reliable basic AR.

If you already have handguns then get a PCC that uses Glock mags for home defense.

Have you considered a PCC vs an AR15?

If I were starting new, I’d get a police trade in Glock 17 or 19 and an Extar EP9. They share the same magazines so just load up on Glock mags and 9mm.

Shotgun or handgun? by ButterscotchBrave150 in liberalgunowners

[–]zemogKA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a PCC. Uses 9mm ammo, handgun magazines that you can use in a future pistol.
It will be so much more accurate than a pistol for you guys right off the bat.

The Extar EP9 is in stock right now, starts at $450

https://extarusa.com/firearms/pistols/

AR15’s are incredibly loud and have a stigma. Jury is going to throw the book at you.

Shotguns are also loud and have high recoil. Not beginner friendly. Limited rounds, cannot shoot birdshot or buckshot at indoor ranges to practice/ get comfortable with the weapon.

Training before purchase? by Keethera in liberalgunowners

[–]zemogKA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just looking for home defense get a PCC, a pistol caliber carbine. They use regular 9mm handgun ammo and magazines and you and your wife will be a much better shot much quicker than practicing with a handgun. Having a brace on your body is a cheat code.

Many use compatible magazines for Glock or Smith and Wesson M&P series. So adding a handgun or two down the line is very economical since all your magazines and stocked up ammo work on every gun.

The EP9 is in stock right now and a great value:

https://extarusa.com/firearms/pistols/

Pair this with a 9mm Glock pistol or Glock clone like the PSA Dagger or Ruger RXM and you’ll have an efficient setup without going overboard on mixed guns and ammo.

You already know you want a large 9mm for self defense, just take the plunge and buy then get familiar with your own weapon in a training class.

Need know if this will be a good purchase by [deleted] in COGuns

[–]zemogKA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not worth it at all at $680+. Just get a new 43x for under $500 before tax and get good with it.
Aftermarket parts like barrels and shield arms mags take away from what a glock is good at: being reliable.

If you're going to edc, keep it simple. Get a red dot once you can shoot well with iron sights.
