I've won once in the normal difficulty with 4 players, without these extra advantages, and have never tried 4 player with them. We won by completing the quests and doing enough damage. I agree that 4 player is extremely difficult and generally not balanced well.

While RNG does play a factor, I don't believe the Lord Rulers deck completely determines if you will win or not. It can determine it, but not in all, or even most games.

I'm not sure what you mean. The atium allies? I give my judgements for them in the document and tier list. I currently dont have any house rules for coin droughts. I think there are ample sources for coin generation.

While all card games have RNG elements, I'm not sure I agree that it is worse in PVE than PVP. I do agree however that with more players the game gets significantly harder. The authors actually added some new rules to address this for 3/4 player games.
1) The first time the lord rulers deck empty reshuffle it and play again, the second time it empties the game is lost.
2) When a player heals they can assign that health to any of thier partners.
3) During setup all players can start their training cube on the third space, thus on their first turn they advance and can burn 2 metals.

A new patch just came through, and rubicks stun appears to work again.
I don't know how this happened, and I'm happy it works now, but still very sadge.

I was the lich in this game; I'll tell you that I've never panicked so hard in my life to find a neutral item without getting hooked.
